Missing Avios, Kicked Off Plane Due To T-Shirt, Inflight Proposal, Basketball Player or Uber Driver & More- The Rehash

March has been one of our busiest travel months that I can recall.

Earlier in the month Kim, Lucas and I headed to Charleston, South Carolina. Then we left Lucas home due to an invite to attend a family press trip to Puerto Vallarta. This week, we’ll be heading off on our spring holiday trip to a destination I’ve long wanted to visit. (Trip planning post should be coming soon.)

While on our upcoming trip I’ve heard and read that internet service can be quite slow so I don’t know how much I’ll be posting while we’re away. Continue reading Missing Avios, Kicked Off Plane Due To T-Shirt, Inflight Proposal, Basketball Player or Uber Driver & More- The Rehash

Kim and I just got back from a really interesting and fun family press trip to Puerto Vallarta- #PVPresstrip.

Besides enjoying the area itself, we also met some really nice people and fellow bloggers. I got some great ideas on ways to switch things up here at Michael W Travels. It’s been a very busy week around here. With trips to two travel doctors, we’re making progress with our trip which is fast approaching at the end of this month. Now if we could just finish off our hotel bookings already…

Kim and I are looking forward to our upcoming trip this Wednesday although we’ll really miss Lucas. I’m sure we’ll be feeling like something (someone) is missing quite a bit. The Weekly Rehash
Kim, Lucas and I got back last night from a visit to Charleston, SC. We had a great time but certainly could’ve used another couple of days… We’ve also been working on finishing off planning our spring break trip which is to a destination I’ve been wanting to visit for years.

Otherwise, it looks like Kim and I should be going on a trip in a little over a week from now where we’ll be leaving Lucas home for only the second time… That’s the update on what’s up in our travels… Continue reading Target REDcard, JetBlue Hotel, North Korea Travel, Scorpion Atttack on Plane, 1,000 Free Points & More- The Rehash

It’s been busy around here this past week with progress being made in planning for a couple of future trips. We’ll also be going on our second trip of 2014 in the middle of this week which I am definitely looking forward to.

With the second month of 2015 winding down, I applied for my first card of the new year. I got approved for the Chase Southwest 50K offer and will apply for the business card soon since I’d love to have the companion pass again. Hopefully the upcoming Rapid Rewards devaluation won’t be too rough.

I’m debating which other credit cards I should consider applying for this year. Obviously it depends on what kind of bonus is being offered, but since I’ve had most of the more popular cards, it can make things more difficult. I also wonder if there will be a 100,000 miles/ points sign up offer on any cards in 2015.

Amex Plat Retention, Air Rage Fines, Liechtenstein, Private Jets, Worth Paying for Premium Econ & More- The Rehash!

The big story of this past week was of a mistake where United sold flights in business and first class for as low as $51 priced in Danish Kroners. United is not honoring these fares and I highly doubt that they will be forced to do so by the DOT. I sent a friend of mine in Austria the info about the deal and he bought two flights. His complaint has been filed and he’ll let me know how it goes…

I did half of this month’s load amount at Target on my REDcard and it was a bit more annoying than last month. Last month I was able to have my card swiped three times before paying to fund my card but that option no longer works. Now I had to do three different charges to fulfill my daily limit of $2,500. I tried doing two charges to one card which triggered a fraud alert, further delaying the process. Regardless, the REDcard is still the easiest manufactured spend that I’ve ever done. Flight Cancellation Costs, Runway Run, Hotel Staffed By Robots , Selfie Stick Ban, Service Kangaroo & More! The Rehash

Like last January, we had an interesting start to our 2015 travels due to a flight cancellation which left us stuck an extra day in Orlando. Maybe this is the start of a new tradition for us.

Find out what the flight cancellation cost us.

Otherwise it’s been a pretty uneventful week in terms of travel. We need to start finishing up booking the details for some of our future trips but Kim and I tend to wait until within a month (give or take) of the trips. Probably not the best strategy but it’s worked so far. Continue reading Flight Cancellation Costs, Runway Run, Hotel Staffed By Robots , Selfie Stick Ban, Service Kangaroo & More! The Rehash

We’re probably just landing back in NYC from our first trip of 2015 to Orlando. The main purpose of our visit was to check out Disney World, a place that I surprisingly haven’t visited before.

Find out about the trip Planning: $140.18 + 65,000 points= Trip for 3 to Orlando.

It’s been a long and busy week here and I’m pretty exhausted from our early flight on Friday morning along with our busy past few days so I’m going to cut this short.

At the end of this week we’ll be leaving on our first trip of the new year so it was about time that I finally finished getting all of the details worked out.

It was also a good week for manufactured spend, something I haven’t done in quite some time. I loaded my Amex Target REDcard a couple of times in the past few days and boy was it a breeze! (I need to thank the people who helped me get a REDcard since it is not available in the NYC area. It’s definitely much appreciated.)
