Selfie Sticks Banned For Pope’s Visit

Pope Visit

I could see how the selfie stick could be a helpful device in some situations but I find that they do more bad than good.

Selfie sticks could cause damage and be quite annoying to others also trying to take a photo. For instance, when Kim, Lucas and I went to Disney I couldn’t image why someone in the front row at a parade would need to use a selfie stick to get a photo. I do know that this selfie stick did manage to ruin quite a few of the photos I was trying to take! Continue reading Selfie Sticks Banned For Pope’s Visit

May the Force Be With Uber, Today in NYC…

Star Wars

Besides surge pricing, Uber is best known to me for their strange, fun and interesting random special offers that they have from time to time. (I’m thinking of  kitten delivery, Christmas Trees, air conditioners and they’ll even bring you lunch!)

I wouldn’t consider myself to be the biggest Uber fan. After first trying out Uber, I asked if someone could explain the big deal? After this ride in which I was overcharged, Uber refunded me $24. Continue reading May the Force Be With Uber, Today in NYC…

Review: Fuku Spicy Chicken Sandwich- NYC

Fuku

Recently it’s seemed like chicken sandwiches have been the new hot thing hitting restaurant menus.

I’ve tried Shake Shack’s ChickenShack a couple of times and definitely find it a worthy option on their menu if you’re not in the mood for a burger or hot dog.

Just about a month before hearing about and trying the ChickenShack, there was lots being written of a hard to get spicy chicken sandwich from a place called Fuku. Continue reading Review: Fuku Spicy Chicken Sandwich- NYC

NYC’s Tallest Observation Deck Coming to Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards

A few months back I wrote about Shake Shack founder Danny Meyer Opening A Food Hall in NYC at the upcoming Hudson Yards project.

Hudson Yards is currently under construction and will transform the area into a whole new neighborhood featuring office space, condos, a hotel, shopping, impressive dining options and a public space & park.

Hudson Yards will also take the title for New York City’s tallest observation deck! Continue reading NYC’s Tallest Observation Deck Coming to Hudson Yards

Brooklyn Bridge Park, Those Views…

Brooklyn Bridge Park

Kim and I have been visiting DUMBO in Brooklyn, NY for quite some time. However, our visits used to be pretty much, just for culinary reasons. Think Jacques Torres Chocolate and the famous Grimaldi’s Pizzeria (although I wouldn’t consider them worthy of the lines they get during the busy summer months & holidays.)

A few years back Patsy Grimaldi returned to the pizza business with his new shop Juliana’s. It took over the original Grimaldi’s location and I’d definitely recommend giving it a try. (FYI- You’ll see very long lines there too.)

When Lucas was born we started going to DUMBO for the impressive Brooklyn Bridge Park. Continue reading Brooklyn Bridge Park, Those Views…

Discounted Tix for Saturday Night Live Exhibition in NYC

Saturday Night Live Exhibition

Earlier in the week, I wrote about a way to enter the lottery for Saturday Night Live tickets for the 2015-16 season.

Even though I’m not a big fan of the show these days, I still entered the lottery and hope to get selected to attend a performance this season.

Since getting SNL tickets can only be done through a lottery or by showing up very early for stand-by tickets, I’m not sure how good the odds are of getting selected.

Well, my SNL ticket lottery post caused a bit of attention, so I figured the show must be a popular topic so here is a deal related to it! Continue reading Discounted Tix for Saturday Night Live Exhibition in NYC

Seeing A Different Side of NY with BQE Tours

BQE

It’s always fun taking the time to play tourist at home. With so much to check out, see and do in and around New York City, we’re pretty lucky.

A great way to explore places not usually accessible is during Open House NY weekend. I’ve done stays (on rare occasion) in Manhattan to get a better feel of what it’s like to be a tourist (like the time we stayed at the Omni Berkshire Place). During that visit, we had a chance to Visit the Cathedral of Commerce- The Woolworth Building.

When I was invited on a tour that claims to be “the ultimate anti-tourist tour of NYC’s burgeoning boroughs“, I took BQE Tours up on their offer. Continue reading Seeing A Different Side of NY with BQE Tours

Saturday Night Live Ticket Lottery Open for 2015-16 Season

Saturday Night Live

Have you ever wanted to attend a taping of Saturday Night Live? While I rarely watch the show (I haven’t watched it much in years), I still think it would be fun to see it performed live.

I’ve always found it interesting to see shows taped in person. A lot goes on behind the scenes, with tons of people involved. (I had the chance to attend many tapings of Letterman after college while working the show as a CBS Page.)

Well if you’re interested in getting SNL tickets, now is the time to send an e-mail to enter the lottery. Continue reading Saturday Night Live Ticket Lottery Open for 2015-16 Season
