A Burger Worth Waiting For: Holeman & Finch, Atlanta

Holeman & Finch Burger

Burgers rank up their as my favorite food just behind pizza. When visiting a new city, I always try to seek out what’s considered to be the best burger out there.

Since starting my blog, I’ve written about burgers many times. (There are links to some of them at the end of this post.)

I heard about Holeman & Finch Public House a few years back on one of the food-related television shows. I wasn’t sure which show featured it so I went to the trusty TV Food Maps app to look it up.

Holeman and Finch can be a very hard burger to get your hands on. Each night only 24 burgers are made. Burger time is at 10:00 PM but you can reserve your burger at any time during service. Continue reading A Burger Worth Waiting For: Holeman & Finch, Atlanta

Screen Shot 2013-11-10 at 10.44.43 PMLast month I wrote about 5 Bizarre Burgers That I’ve Tried. I’m a huge burger fan so I was happy to come across an interesting article from Zagat called 10 Crazy Burgers From Around the U.S. while I was writing up my list.

I’m always looking for new burgers to try and am definitely interested in tasting a few from Zagat’s list of crazy burgers. While I haven’t tried any of the burgers mentioned, I have eaten at  3 places from the list, having burgers at 2 of them.

5 Bizarre Burgers That I’ve Tried

IMG_5785

Just after pizza, burgers are  my next favorite food .  I enjoying trying  different kinds of burgers at places all over the country and world but usually won’t pass up  some of my favorites (I’m talking about you Shake Shack!)

The best part about visiting different places is seeing the wide variety of ways burgers can be prepared and dressed. Each place can customize their patties with different cuts of meat, buns & toppings, some even being really creative (maybe crazy) with some of their combinations.

A bunch of burgers come to mind (that I’ve tried) when I think about crazy burgers.

Off Topic: My Little Burger

Yesterday was the Jewish holiday of Purim. The easiest way to describe the holiday is to compare it to Halloween. During Purim, people get dressed up in costumes and candy/ snacks are given out. I’m not the best person to have explain the holiday so I’ll stop there.

For Purim we dressed up Lucas as one of my favorite foods, a Hamburger!
We had bought the costume for Halloween but with the destruction done by Hurricane Sandy, it wasn’t the year to take him out trick or treating. Candy is also not part of Lucas’ diet yet. Continue reading Off Topic: My Little Burger

Heavy Metal Burgers at Kuma’s Corner

a plate of food with fries and cheese on it

I first heard about Kuma’s Corner when it was on food- television show Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives a few years back. Since then, they have been on a bunch of other shows.

I’m a huge fan of burgers so eating one at Kuma’s Corner was at the top of my list on my recent trip to Chicago. It was actually the first thing we did after checking in to our hotel!

I remembered that many of the burgers were named after heavy metal bands but forgot how huge they were. Some of the burger names are: Iron Maiden, Lair of Minotaur, Led Zeppelin, Megadeath, Metallica, Pantera and Slayer. Continue reading Heavy Metal Burgers at Kuma’s Corner

Shake Shack Grand Opening-Brooklyn

a group of people walking outside a building

Burgers are one of my favorite foods and when I heard that Shake Shack was coming to Brooklyn, I was really psyched.

It just so happened that the grand opening was going to be on my birthday (12/20) so I figured I would go for lunch!

I e-mailed the restaurant and found out that Shake Shack would be opening around 11AM and some VIPs would be present for a ceremony. I arrived at 10:45 expecting a huge line but was pleasanly surprised to see only 2 people ahead of me.

Louis’ Lunch- Birthplace of the Hamburger- New Haven, CT

Louis' Lunch- Birthplace of the Hamburger- New Haven, CT
After seeing Louis’ Lunch featured on almost every food related travel show the last couple of years, I had to make a trip to Connecticut to try a burger out at the place where hamburgers were created.
.
I went in late June and luckily there wasn’t much of a wait. I had read that the lines could go way out the door and could be over an hour.
