Back in early June I wondered, Is the SPG Credit Card $30 Fee Increase Worth the Perks?

I felt that a solid amount of benefits were being added for the increased fee. However, they added no actual monetary value to the card. In other words, while the benefits are nice, I wouldn’t pay to have any of them.

Well today the new benefits went live and with it came an increase in the sign-up bonus for both the personal and business SPG Amex credit cards. Continue reading SPG New Credit Card Benefits + Increased 30K Signup Offers

$5 off $25 at NYC Restaurants with Amex

NYC Restaurant Week

NYC Restaurant Week will be starting on Monday, July 20 and will go until August 14.

During the promotion, you can get 3 course lunches for $25 and dinners for $38. This really isn’t so cheap (add in tax & tip etc.) but if you choose restaurants which are very expensive then you might find yourself a great deal.

The last time I could recall taking part in Restaurant Week, Kim and I had an amazing meal at Tom Colucchio’s Riverpark. Continue reading $5 off $25 at NYC Restaurants with Amex

After getting back from our trip to Nicaragua on July 4, it was time to look over my credit card accounts to check on things…

While I was happy to see a $75 statement credit on my Starwood Amex Business card before we went away, this time I saw the $65 Annual Membership Fee had posted.

What to do, what to do… Continue reading My Starwood Amex Biz Retention Offer

Glad I Double-Checked Amex Offers, $375 Free Money!

Amex Offers

Last week I read about a limited & targeted offer from Amex Offers which gave a $75 statement credit when making a purchase of $250 or more at select stores.

If the offer was available in your account, it could be redeemed up to five times. This means that if the offer is maxed out you could get up to $375 for free from American Express! Not bad at all…

$375 is a nice chunk of change so I was hoping that at least one of my cards had this offer. Continue reading Glad I Double-Checked Amex Offers, $375 Free Money!

Amex E-Mail: No More REDcard Loads By Credit Card. Really?

Target REDdcardI got my hands on my Target REDcard in January of this year and it wasn’t long before I started encountering issues with loads being done by credit card.

By the end of February at some Target locations a manager had to load the card, also limiting loads to $1,000 per day. This made loading the full $5,000 per month take 5 visits as opposed to 2.  Continue reading Amex E-Mail: No More REDcard Loads By Credit Card. Really?

Shot Down: Amex Platinum Retention Offer

amex platinum cardBack in January 2013 I started a two-year relationship with the American Express Platinum card. We got off to a rough start and I had to make many calls and write a couple of letters before Amex did the right thing and gave me my 100,000 points.

I never intended to keep my card open for two full years but a retention offer &  an additional retention bonus along with hopes of a generous Membership Rewards transfer bonus offer made me do it. Continue reading Shot Down: Amex Platinum Retention Offer

$200 Amex Platinum Airline Fee Credits Posted

american express platinum card benefitsThe new year brings another $200 in airline fee credits to redeem on my Amex Platinum card. (The credit helps to offset the pricey $450 annual fee that comes with the card.)

Last year I used my fee credit to purchase Southwest gift cards. Since Kim had the Southwest Companion Pass and we needed a third ticket for Lucas. The $200 in credits would definitely come in handy for future bookings.

For those of you unsure of the Amex Platinum Airline Fee Credit, the $200 is intended to be used towards “incidental fees, such as checked bags and in-flight refreshments”. Continue reading $200 Amex Platinum Airline Fee Credits Posted

Transferred: Amex Points to BA Avios, Bonus Mostly Spent

British Airways Avios

Last month I wrote a post asking: Should I transfer my Amex points to BA?

After waiting and waiting for what seemed like way too long for a solid transfer bonus to be offered by American Express, it seemed that now was the time to make a move. Getting a 40% bonus for transferring Membership Rewards points to British Airways Avios seemed enticing enough to me. Continue reading Transferred: Amex Points to BA Avios, Bonus Mostly Spent
