175lb Passenger Removed from American Airlines Flight Due to Weight?

American Airlines Flight

A passenger says that he was removed from an American Airlines flight due to his weight but the story isn’t exactly what you’d expect.

Some believe that obese people should pay more or even purchase another seat when flying.

When I read that a passenger was removed from a flight over weight limits, I assumed it must be somebody overweight, not a passenger weighing 175 pounds! Continue reading 175lb Passenger Removed from American Airlines Flight Due to Weight?

AA Loses Golfer John Daly’s Clubs

It seems like American Airlines just doesn’t know how to treat people’s belongings.

Back in September, Kim, Lucas and I flew on American Airlines to Grenada. Along the way we had a stop in Miami. Soon after picking up Lucas’s stroller in Miami I noticed that American Airlines had broken it! (After filing a claim and countless calls I think our issue has been resolved after 3.5 months!)

In November I wrote about how American Airlines lost a Boston Marathon bombing victim’s prosthetic leg!

Now AA has lost the clubs of a famous golfer. Continue reading AA Loses Golfer John Daly’s Clubs

Did I Get An AAdvantage Aviator Red Retention Offer?

AAdvantage Aviator Red

Back in March I was surprised when I had paid my AAdvantage Aviator Red card’s bill even though the card hadn’t arrived.

For those of you confused by what I am talking about, I’ll quickly explain. Due to American Airlines and US Airways merging, the Barclays US Airways credit card was being switched over to the AA Aviator credit card.

When my bill arrived in the mail a few weeks back with the $89 annual fee included, I knew there was an important call that I had to make. Continue reading Did I Get An AAdvantage Aviator Red Retention Offer?

American Airlines Makes Lucas A Special Crewmember

American Airlines

Leading up to our recent trip to Toronto, many frustrating things took place.

We were supposed to leave for our trip just to find out that due to a screw-up by British Airways, our flight wasn’t actually booked! We got things sorted out and took the trip a week later. However, I’m still waiting for 40,500 Avios + $143.79 to be refunded.

The following week we ran into some more bad luck. Our flight was cancelled. We were booked in biz but had to fly coach the following day. I wondered if we were owed compensation. On a positive note, Marriott customer service impressed and I didn’t lose a free night certificate. Find out if AA gave us compensation for being moved from biz to coach.

Our visit was pretty brief due to our flight cancellation as well as our flight the following day being delayed a couple of hours. As brief as our visit was, we still had a good time. Continue reading American Airlines Makes Lucas A Special Crewmember

Which AAdvantage Aviator Red Credit Card Bonus Offer Is Better?

AAdvantage Aviator Red

Barclaycard has been known to send out bonus offers for their credit cards where you can earn a nice chunk of miles or points for hitting a minimum amount of spend (usually for a few months in a row).

The first card that I recall getting an offer like this for was the US Airways Mastercard. Over the summer I received an offer from Barclays for my Wyndham Rewards Visa.

Around a month or so back I received a bonus offer from my AAdvantage Aviator Red credit card which I didn’t consider going for. I didn’t even think about it again until Kim got an offer for her Aviator Red. Continue reading Which AAdvantage Aviator Red Credit Card Bonus Offer Is Better?

Did I Get A Citi American Airlines Credit Card Retention Offer

American Airlines Credit Card

When the annual fee posted to the account for my Citi American Airlines credit card, I knew there was something I had to do.

I rarely am willing to pay a credit card’s annual fee and this was especially the case for this card. I can’t say that I see much value in the card making it worth paying $95 to hold onto.

I decided to call the number on the back of my card and find out about a retention offer. Continue reading Did I Get A Citi American Airlines Credit Card Retention Offer

Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach- Did AA Compensate?

cancelled flight

Last week I wrote about a cancelled flight in business class where we ended up having to fly coach to Toronto. I wondered if we were owed compensation from American Air.

During this trip to Toronto, many things went wrong. Due to a mistake with our booking, I’m waiting on a refund of 40,500 Avios + $143.79 from British Airways.

During this whole saga of bookings mistakes and cancelled flights, the one thing that did turn out well was Marriott customer service helping us out so we didn’t lose a free night certificate.

While I’m still waiting on my refund for British Airways to post, I heard back from American Airlines Customer Relations much faster than I had expected. Continue reading Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach- Did AA Compensate?

Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach. Am I Owed Compensation?

cancelled flight

A couple of days back I wrote about how British Airways owed me 40,500 Avios + $143.79 due to a mistake they made with a recent booking.

Because of a BA error, I ended up with a cancelled flight from New York to Toronto. After a lengthy call, Kim, Lucas and I were booked for the following week in business class.

More bad luck hit us on flight day and our flight was cancelled. Continue reading Cancelled Flight in Biz, Flew Coach. Am I Owed Compensation?

AA Business Extra Points Expiring, What Should I Do?

AA Business Extra

Back in January I wrote about some of my American Airlines Business Extra points that had expired.

I had forgotten to redeem some points which were expiring and decided to send an e-mail to AA to try to get them back. It turned out well with my points being reinstated- it didn’t hurt to ask!

With the new year fast approaching, I find myself in a similar position as last year. On December 31, 2015, 1,100 of my AA Business Extra points will expire.

So, what should I do? Continue reading AA Business Extra Points Expiring, What Should I Do?

AA Loses Boston Marathon Bombing Victim’s Prosthetic Leg (& Finds It)

Boston Marathon bombing

It’s been a crazy past couple of days filled with lots of flight delays and flight cancellations. Luckily our one checked bag was spotted by Lucas after our flights were cancelled on Thursday night. You see, our bag was so wet that Kim and I didn’t even recognize it.. But Lucas did!

I came across a story from the Boston Globe about a Boston Marathon bombing survivor having her luggage lost by American Airlines. Inside the luggage were some pricey and very important items.  Continue reading AA Loses Boston Marathon Bombing Victim’s Prosthetic Leg (& Finds It)
