Citi AA Retention Offer: “But We’ll Miss You If You Do That”

citi credit cards

Last year I received a retention offer on my Citi American Airlines Visa card.

While I wasn’t thrilled with the options, I decided to keep the card open. I then considered calling back to close the card but in the end, never bothered….

The annual fee of $85 has once again came up which means it was time for another call. Continue reading Citi AA Retention Offer: “But We’ll Miss You If You Do That”

Is It The Airline’s Duty To Contact Us About Flight Cancellations

At the beginning of the month, Kim, Lucas and I got stuck in Orlando during our first trip of 2015. Our flight was cancelled due to a potential snow storm that was supposed to hit the NYC area on Super Bowl Sunday. From what friends told me, around the time our flight would’ve landed, the weather really wasn’t so bad…

Either way, I guess it’s better to be safe than take any chances flying into potentially bad weather.

The thing that bothered me most is that I got no notification from American Airlines about the cancellation. Continue reading Is It The Airline’s Duty To Contact Us About Flight Cancellations

American Airlines, New Official Airline of the LA Clippers

la clippers sponsorsEarlier in the month I wrote about how American Airlines was becoming the New Official Airline of the Chicago Cubs.

It looks like the airline is looking to further expand their ties to sports and have announced another major sponsorship, this time with another NBA team.

American Airlines announced that they are now becoming the Official Airline Partner of the Los Angeles Clippers. Continue reading American Airlines, New Official Airline of the LA Clippers

AA Leaves 1,000s Of Bags in Miami Leaving Passengers In The Dark

lost baggageI’d say that Kim and I check a bag 95% of the time.

For international trips we aren’t bringing along backpacks small enough to bring onboard, especially not when also packing clothes, diapers and other things needed for a toddler. We’ve also avoided paying checked-bag fees since most of our domestic flights in the past few years have been with Southwest, an airline that allows you to check bags for free. Otherwise, for our recent trip to Orlando we flew AA. Due to having Gold status I was allowed to also check bags for free. American Airlines: New Official Airline of Chicago Cubs

Chicago CubsChicago CubsI was a bit surprised to come across news that American Airlines had been named the official airline of the Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field.

Considering the airline has it’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas wouldn’t being the official airline of the Rangers have made more sense? I’m sure there is more to it than sponsoring a baseball team when it comes to this deal. Continue reading American Airlines: New Official Airline of Chicago Cubs

Unexpected Miles Earned From An Award Flight

american airlines miles

On Super Bowl Sunday we were supposed to fly home from our first trip of 2015 which was to Orlando, Florida.

With reports of snowstorms most likely hitting the NYC area and American waiving flight change fees I decided to call up to see what the status of our flight was. I received a call back from AA close to an hour and a half after I called in. I found out that our flight had been cancelled. Continue reading Unexpected Miles Earned From An Award Flight

What Did A Flight Cancellation Cost Us?

Flight cancellations…

Last year we got stuck in Oslo, this year it was Orlando’s turn. What’s up with these snowstorms hitting NYC in January!

Our flight was supposed to take off from Orlando just before 7:00PM (on Super Bowl Sunday) but it got cancelled due to a storm that was supposed to hit the NYC area that evening. Continue reading What Did A Flight Cancellation Cost Us?

American Airlines Honors Past With New Amenity Kits

american airline
from American Way

The rare times that we fly premium cabins, I’m always excited to check out the amenity kit that is given out by the airline.

I love how the amenity kits can be unique in style and with the products that come inside. Some kits are even intended to be used after/ repurposed. (As an example: When we flew home from Japan a couple of summers back, Kim and I got American Airlines First Class kits which are meant to be used as an iPad case.) Points Being Reinstated, It Never Hurts To Ask

american airlines business extra

It’s never a good feeling to see miles or points expire, regardless of how many…

I signed up for an American Airlines Business Extra account around two years back. I earned a bunch of points through signing up and a promo which was enough for something like a couple of lounge passes (maybe more).

Then, less than a year ago, an offer came out where I could refer up to 5 friends, earning 1,000 points for each one that signed up. Continue reading Points Being Reinstated, It Never Hurts To Ask

Citi AA Amex Retention Offer, No Thanks

citi american airlines credit card

Yesterday afternoon I gave Citibank a call to see if there were any worthwhile retention offers available for my American Airlines Platinum Select American Express credit card.

Since I currently have a bunch of American Airlines cards, I was leaning toward closing this one unless an offer (while highly unlikely) seemed like one that I couldn’t refuse.

Here is the retention offer I received: Continue reading Citi AA Amex Retention Offer, No Thanks
