We usually take a month-long summer trip to international destinations. However, this year we settled for a few road trips including a trip to Maine for a couple of weeks.

Food Quest: We Tried 12 Whoopie Pies In Maine During Our 10 Day Trip!

While it wasn’t the international trip we’re accustomed to, we had a great time during this outdoorsy, food-focused adventure!

Ridiculous Street Signs #28: No Dog Toilet- Haarlem, The Netherlands

a man jumping on top of a planetIt’s been quite a while since I last stepped foot on a plane. The last flights I took were with my 8-year old son Lucas to The Netherlands back in February.

During the trip we stayed in Amsterdam. We also took day trips to Haarlem and Utrecht.

A Visit To The International Cryptozoology Museum- Portland, ME

cryptozoologyOver the summer, we took a road trip to Maine where we tried 15 lobster rolls during our 10 day trip!

Besides eating lots of lobster rolls, we also visited quite a few lighthouses, ate lots of whoopie pies and visited Acadia National Park.

A Visit To The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery in Lititz, PA

Lititz PADuring a recent trip to Pennsylvania Dutch Country we spent a night on a train at the Red Caboose Motel in Ronks, PA.

The area offers some fun things to do with kids like visiting a farm, taking a ride on a steam train and a theme park called Dutch Wonderland.

Finding Pizza Excellence at Ollie’s In Upstate NY

When I first heard of Ollie’s, a new pizzeria opening in upstate NY, I immediately put it on my list of places that I wanted to check out. The space looked incredible and we figured that the pizza would be excellent considering one of the partners was Frank Pinello of Best Pizza and The Pizza Show. Our First Movie Out Since COVID-19, Overlook Drive-In!

drive-inPrior to businesses shutting down due to COVID-19, my family enjoyed going to movies at theaters like Alamo Drafthouse and Nitehawk Cinema.

It’s been quite a long time since we went out to the movies until a recent trip to upstate NY.

During the trip, Kim and I knew that we’d definitely do four things; finally visit Acadia National Park, visit lots of lighthouses and eat many Whoopie pies and lobster rolls!

Searching For Gnome Mountain In High Falls, NY

GnomeOver the holiday weekend, Kim and I decided to take a short trip to upstate NY. We figured it would be nice to get away one last time before the school year begins.

Our first destination was lunch at a new pizza shop which recently opened. On the way, Kim did a search to see if there was anything else worth checking out in the area.

A Visit To The Maine State Prison Showroom

Maine State PrisonOver the summer, the Michael W Travels wasn’t traveling internationally due to COVID-19. Instead, we took a handful of road trips not too far from home.

Our most recent and longest trip was an 11-day trip primarily to Maine. While there, we ate a lot of lobster rolls and visited quite a few lighthouses.
