2014 Friendliest & Unfriendliest Cities in the World

a black and white logoLast year I wrote a post about the Friendliest and Unfriendliest Cities in the U.S.

While Conde Nast came out with a slideshow of 2014’s winners I thought it would be more interesting this time around to check out the Friendliest and Unfriendliest cities in the world according to CN Traveler’s readers. Continue reading 2014 Friendliest & Unfriendliest Cities in the World

Poll Results: Is It Wrong To Visit Countries With Oppressive Regimes?

London Salon's Trouble Over Kim Jong Un Haircut Sale

Earlier in the week I ran a poll asking  the question, Is It Wrong To Visit Countries With Oppressive Regimes?

My idea for the topic came about due to a post from the end of July, Send Your Kids To North Korea For What??? (With the what being- summer camp)

In the post about sending kids to summer camp in North Korea one commenter suggested that visiting North Korea meant that you were supporting the government. Linda wrote “I just don’t understand people that would support KJU by their tourism. It frankly shocks me that people do this.” Continue reading Poll Results: Is It Wrong To Visit Countries With Oppressive Regimes?

Best Airlines For Men in 2014

What is the best airline in the world? According to the World Airline Awards, Cathay Pacific was named World’s Best Airline for 2014.

I think the question is a tough one to answer since it can mean different things to different people. Some might value the food over entertainment, taking off & arriving on time over a friendly flight crew and so on…

I personally don’t think too much about this since the most important thing for me is Continue reading Best Airlines For Men in 2014

A Potential New Must-Have Travel Accessory

Don’t forget to Vote in My Poll: Is It Wrong To Visit Countries With Oppressive Regimes?

A few months back I wrote about the Newest Card In My Wallet, Nomad’s ChargeCard.

More recently, Nomad released the NomadClip, a carabiner which like the ChargeCard is a portable charging cable. (I look forward to trying one out when it arrives in November.)

While portable charging cables are great to have, they are a bit limited. Portable cables are useful if you are sitting by a computer or have another place to plug-in your device, but what do you do when this is not the case? Continue reading A Potential New Must-Have Travel Accessory

Is It Wrong To Visit Countries With Oppressive Regimes? Vote in the Poll

a man in a black suit wavingDon’t forget to vote in the poll at the bottom of this post!

Last week I wrote how you could now send your kids to North Korea for summer camp. In the post I jokingly mentioned the idea of sending Lucas to camp there for a week so Kim and I could go on one of the tours of the closed-off country.

Some people weren’t sure if I was joking or not and were very against my plan. Others mentioned that they would “refuse to support a government responsible for atrocities that we know are rampant in N. Korea”. Amazing Bars & Restaurants Underwater Around the World

While I really enjoy snorkeling I haven’t really done any underwater exploration. I used to have an interest in scuba diving but really have no interest anymore.

Years back Kim and I took scuba lessons in anticipation of visiting the Great Barrier Reef during our honeymoon to Australia. Unfortunately, I have a bit of a problem when it comes to open water- I usually get a very bad case of seasickness. I’d say that within 15 minutes of our boat leaving for the GBR, I was upchucking that morning’s breakfast! This made for a torturous day stuck on the boat. I got in the water and tried to descend one time but when I went to clear my mask, one of the instructors yanked down on me, causing me to push him off and head back for the surface. This was the end of my scuba diving career before it even got started. Continue reading Amazing Bars & Restaurants Underwater Around the World

Restaurants With Long Lines Worth Waiting For

Line out the door at Oklahoma Joe’s

Just how long would you wait in line for a meal? Generally speaking, I’d assume that we all hate waiting. When we get to a restaurant we want to be sat instantly and have our food be brought out promptly.

However, some places are just so popular that you know there is going to be a wait. But are you willing to stand in those long lines to get some (hopefully) delicious grub? Continue reading Restaurants With Long Lines Worth Waiting For

$127 For 3 Bottles of Water At Hotel

I’ve always felt that buying bottled water was one of the biggest scams out there. The only time I find it really worth purchasing is when traveling to countries where the water is not safe to drink.

As we all know, the price of bottled water can vary based on the brand and where you purchase it.

However, based on a story I just read on Fox News, the prices at The Wellesley Hotel in London are just crazy! Continue reading $127 For 3 Bottles of Water At Hotel

If you happen to be afraid of heights then this post is probably not for you!

When visiting a new place, Kim and I love when we can take a cable car (aerial tram) up to a site. It can be very interesting seeing a place from way up high and can make for a totally different perspective. (It can also sure beat walking!) Continue reading World’s Coolest Tram Rides
