Buy A Car, Get A Free Trip To Sweden

a man pushing a bag next to a carDuring our trip to the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia & Lithuania) back in 2007, Kim and I flew to Copenhagen first and headed home through Stockholm. We used budget carriers Estonia Air and Air Baltic to get to/ from the Baltics from Scandanavia.

On the way home we had an early flight from Vilnius to Stockholm before making our way back to New York. I was taking a nap on a seat by our gate and when I woke up a guy came over to me and asked if I was Michael W. (This had nothing to do with the blog since it did not exist back then!)

I immediately wondered who this guy was and why he knew my name. It turned out that he was an old friend from junior high and high school that I hadn’t seen in over 10 years! This was definitely an odd but cool coincidence that we both happened to be flying through Stockholm on the same flight. Continue reading Buy A Car, Get A Free Trip To Sweden

Confirmed: Citi Exec AA 100,000 Mile Offer Still Working

a close-up of a credit cardThere were reports starting yesterday that the amazing Citi American Airlines Executive card 100,000 mile bonus offer would be ending today. I first heard the news from Miles to Memories.

I’ve mentioned this awesome offer on a couple of occasions when Kim had an interesting 100,000 miles credit card approval conversation and in my Almost Mid-Year Update.

Coincidently, this past Tuesday my father-in-law was asking me how he could get a quick chunk of miles again to plan for a new trip. I mentioned applying for the AA Executive card again. He applied, called-in and was approved within 15 minutes! Continue reading Confirmed: Citi Exec AA 100,000 Mile Offer Still Working

Targeted: Earn Up To 2,500 Lufthansa Bonus Miles

a woman standing in a fieldDisclosure: I receive a commission if you apply & get approved for the credit card mentioned at the bottom of the post. Thank you for supporting Michael W Travels.

For the most part, there is rarely anything good that ever comes in the mail. Bills and junk mail are the two most frequent things that we receive!

However, on rare occasion a nice little bonus offer arrives. I always make sure to skim over any airline related junk mail since you never know what they might be offering

This time I received a piece of mail from BarclayCard for my Lufthansa Miles & More credit card with a targeted and limited time offer. Continue reading Targeted: Earn Up To 2,500 Lufthansa Bonus Miles

Woud You Spend SkyMiles For Experiences

a group of people smiling for a photo Last week I wrote a post and asked if you would Bid With Miles For a Flight Simulator Experience.  Here are some other options where you can use miles to bid for a variety of experiences.

Would I use my miles for this kind of thing? No! But, I do think it is interesting to see what Delta would like to offer us as options to spend our miles on.

I’ve received e-mails in the past from Delta about their SkyMiles Auctions but don’t think that I’ve ever actually taken a moment to see what was offered. I probably haven’t looked since the odds are extremely high that I would not bid with my miles for any sort of experience. However, maybe I would be surprised by what I saw…

My Chase Ink Retention Offer

Should I Hold Onto 2 Chase Ink Cards? 3A couple of weeks back I wrote a post asking Should I Hold Onto 2 Chase Ink Cards? Since writing the post I’ve closed one of my other Chase cards. While closing my United Explorer card Chase only allowed me to move $53 from the card’s credit line.

This left me with 5 cards with Chase. I figured that I would close my Ink Bold card since the $95 annual fee came up and I was recently approved for an Ink Plus. This allowed me to still earn 5X points at office supply stores and when paying cable, internet and phone bills.

I decided to call Chase to see if there was anything they could do to help me with the annual fee. Continue reading My Chase Ink Retention Offer

Chase Only Allows $53 From Credit Line To Be Moved

a blue card with white text

Last year I called to close my United Explorer card but for one reason or another it never happened. I was able to get the $95 annual fee refunded, had most of my credit line moved to another card but then encountered an issue.

The representative moved almost all of my credit line besides a random amount of $1148. It wasn’t the rep. that chose this amount. The computer allowed him to only move so much before it would not work.

Not wanting to lose any of my credit line, the representative suggested that I call back. Considering the fee was removed, I could call back at my leisure. Keeping the card open wouldn’t really harm me even though I preferred to downsize my active Chase credit card accounts. Continue reading Chase Only Allows $53 From Credit Line To Be Moved

Would You Bid With Miles For Flight Simulator Experience?

a close-up of a cockpitLet’s say that you had lots of miles to burn. Would you consider using a half million of them on a flight simulator experience?

United is auctioning off the chance to take a Behind the Scenes Flight Simulator Travel Experience.

While this experience sounds really amazing, it comes at an extremely high cost. A few days back I was looking at this package . The winning bid at this point was a little over 200,000 United miles. I checked in again a few moments ago and the bid is now up to a whopping 502,000 miles. Continue reading Would You Bid With Miles For Flight Simulator Experience?

Free uberFAMILY Ride Up To $50- Targeted

a poster of a family with a carWhen Uber announced uberFamily I decided to sign up even though I wasn’t too sure that I would take advantage of the service.

According to the Uber blog: uberFAMILY is the on-demand car seat option for parents on the go. With the touch of a button and a $10 surcharge, you can now easily and safely buckle up your child.

I thought that it was really awesome that Uber was thinking of families needing to get around with little ones in creating this new option. However, I find Uber to be a bit on the pricey side and am still trying to figure out what the big deal is. Continue reading Free uberFAMILY Ride Up To $50- Targeted
