It’s always exciting to hear about new openings of my favorite fast- casual burger chain, Shake Shack.
Earlier in the month I wrote about two more Shack airport locations opening.
Back in 2011, I went to the grand opening of the first Shack in Brooklyn. In 2013 I was at JFK Airport for the opening of Delta’s T4. During that day I had an unlikely encounter with Richard Branson and also dined at the first airport location of Shake Shack!
Recently, I shared a super- proud dad moment thanks to Shake Shack!
Shake Shack announced on Instagram yesterday that their first ever mainland China location!
The restaurant is located in Xintiandi, “an affluent car-free shopping, eating and entertainment district of Shanghai,” according to Wikipedia.
According to the post, the location will have “exclusive menu items.”
One of them mentioned is the Strawberry Yu(zu) Garden Shake. (A vanilla custard blend with strawberry sauce + yuzu juice, topped with matcha foam, whipped cream + matcha powder.)
There’s also three concretes which are mixed with local ingredients. From the special menu items the one I’d most want to try would be the Concrete called The Shack Attack.
So far, we’ve tried Shake Shack outside the US in a few countries. We dined at Shacks in the UAE, Qatar and South Korea. Of the three, the Shake Shack in South Korea was the best and closest to the taste at home.
When we head back to China in the future, it’s nice to know that (at least in Shanghai) there are other options besides McDonald’s to make you feel at home!
