Flight Delays

A United Airlines flight took off from Chicago for London on Friday night and should’ve arrived the following morning but things didn’t go according to plan.

Due to maintenance issues, the plane had to be diverted to Goose Bay, Canada in Newfoundland, landing safely around 11:30 pm.

The flight crew spent the night in a hotel but there was no room for the 200 passengers. Continue reading Flight Diverted, Passengers Stuck Almost 24 Hours, Sleep In Military Barracks

Shocking: Great United Customer Service!

united customer serviceI recently wrote about how I used my $300 United credit from a flight cancellation to book a flight to Atlanta for the Freddie Awards.

When I booked my flight back in January, I didn’t know much more than the date of the ceremony. I wasn’t sure what time it started or if there would be other related things going on due to it.

My original booking was flying out of Newark Airport at 12:22 pm, arriving in Atlanta at 2:45 pm. I figured that this would give us ample time to get to our airport hotel, freshen up, change and get over to the event on time.

Then I got a notification that our flight had changed. Continue reading Shocking: Great United Customer Service!

Bid With United Miles To Train Like A Pilot

united miles

Last year I wrote about bidding with miles for a flight simulator experience.

Most would probably agree that spending hundreds of thousands of miles for something that might cost you around $300 a bit crazy.

United Airlines is once again offering the chance to bid with miles for a Behind the Scenes Flight Simulator Experience in Denver. Continue reading Bid With United Miles To Train Like A Pilot

United Airlines, Thanks But How About…

United Airlines

The holiday season is well under way. Between Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday and other sales, I hope most of you are close to done with your gift shopping.

The ridiculous amount of holiday music on the radio and in stores could drive just about anybody nuts so I won’t exactly mind when it’s all over.

Kim and I aren’t big on gifts but Lucas gets his fair share and I’m looking forward to the look on his face when he rips open each of his presents, getting loads of new toys! Continue reading United Airlines, Thanks But How About…

Getting A “Taste” of United’s New Newark Airport Experience

United Airlines Newark Airport TerminalsThis past Monday night I was invited to attend a special event to learn about United’s big plans to update and upgrade their hub at Newark Liberty Airport (EWR).

United chose OTG to transform Terminal C in terms of food options, design and technology. OTG will be investing $120 million in this project.

OTG will be turning the terminal into what I’d consider a top culinary destination by partnering up with an overly impressive list of chefs. Continue reading Getting A “Taste” of United’s New Newark Airport Experience

I Love Earning Unexpected Miles

a close-up of a sign

I’ve earned sign up bonuses for many of the dining programs and used to make an effort to dine in restaurants that participate. The problem is that few restaurants close to home seem to participate anymore, or at least one’s I’d want to go eat at.

When visiting new cities and states around the U.S., I always make it a point to check the handy and useful TV Food Maps app. Continue reading I Love Earning Unexpected Miles

United’s MileagePlus Air Game Challenge with the NY Giants

a screenshot of a video game

Last year I covered  the American Airlines- Dallas Cowboys giveaway AirTimeChallenge
throughout the season. In the sweepstakes, 25,000 AA miles were given away 9 different times to one lucky winner.

I didn’t hear about AA doing an NFL contest again this season but I did receive e-mails from United about a weekly contest with the New York Giants which seems pretty similar. Continue reading United’s MileagePlus Air Game Challenge with the NY Giants
