When Kim and I visited the Colosseum in Rome during one of our trips to Italy we were totally amazed by this ancient site.

Like just about anyone visiting the Colosseum, we found it was pretty busy inside and out. We also spent New Years Eve outside, watching fireworks go off all around.

Wouldn’t it be cool to get a site like the Colosseum all to yourself? Continue reading German Tourists Sneak Into the Colosseum at Night

Spotting Peter Pan In Italy

During our most recent trip we visited 3 Countries in 4.5 Days on our Quick Euro Roadtrip.

We spent our first full day checking out the Lake Como area in Italy. Our last stop of the day was the town of Menaggio. At first it seemed like a small town with great lake views and not much else to see or do but once we parked and started to walk around, I was surprised by what we saw.

There was an elderly couple calling down to someone along the lakeside promenade.

3 Countries In 4.5 Days, Our Quick Euro Roadtrip

Screen Shot 2014-02-13 at 4.42.21 PM

We got back from our Quick Euro Roadtrip a couple of weeks ago and it’s time to share what we did. We had an awesome time, which had a lot to do with everything running smoothly especially after the weather at home almost made the trip not happen.

Our trip, which only came about due to an amazing airfare to Milan was saved thanks to Wideroe chat which helped us change our flight to leave a day earlier than originally planned.

The flight (in coach) was comfortable enough except for the feeling of knees in my back from the passenger behind me a bunch of times. Kim seemed to have the same problem too. Lucas did great. Other then getting a bit fidgety sitting in his seat  (in his CARES harness) while the plane was stuck at the gate for a bit longer than expected, he enjoyed the flight and slept most of the time. Otherwise, the flight wasn’t memorable besides catching an excellent movie- Captain Phillips

4,000 Skeletons at The Capuchin Crypt of Santa Maria della Concezione

During our trip to Italy (a few years back) we spent some of our time in Rome. There are many popular & well-known sites which are on most visitor’s lists of things to see. (Think the Colosseum, Pantheon, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, the Vatican etc…)
.
While we did visit all of the sites listed above and more, we also wanted to find something that felt a little more off the beaten path..

Happy New Year!

The Colosseum

Last year my wife and I spent the holidays in Italy. (I mentioned here why we are at home in NY this year)

For New Years Eve we hung out by the Colosseum in Rome. It was probably one of the best New Years celebrations that I have ever been to. While I don’t usually like fireworks, it was pretty amazing seeing the fireworks over the Colosseum and Arch of Constantine. Continue reading Happy New Year!
