Woman Passes Out, Taken On $293 Uber Ride

Uber complaints

It seems to me like just about every Uber makes the news, it’s with a negative twist…

Many of us have heard about the Uber horror stories like $94 for a 2 Mile Ride and the twenty-minute ride which cost $362. Well here is another awful Uber story where another passenger may have been taken for a ride which really cost her… Continue reading Woman Passes Out, Taken On $293 Uber Ride

Uber Collecting Clothing Donations For Goodwill TODAY

Uber CabUber is teaming up with Goodwill in a Winter Clothing Drive to offer clothing donation pickups of “gently worn clothes” today, November 25.

I received an e-mail about this offer from UberNYC. The offer is available in three cities- NYC, San Francisco & Boston free of charge.

If I lived in Manhattan, I’d definitely be taking Uber up on this offer. Kim and I have quite a few bags of clothes to give away… Continue reading Uber Collecting Clothing Donations For Goodwill TODAY

Last Chance: Free Uber Ride- Up to $30

uber free ride

Uber has been all the rage for many that want the convenience of requesting a ride by doing little more than a few swipes on their cell phone.

Through their app, you can request a car and pay for it. No waiting on lines at the airport or on hold when calling. You won’t even reach into your pocket to pay for the ride since that too is done through the app.

While I’m not a frequent user of Uber, (to date we’ve used it two times) I’ve had mixed feelings about the service. Continue reading Last Chance: Free Uber Ride- Up to $30

Apparently She Didn’t Read My Beware of Uber Surge Pricing Post

uber surge pricing
from Buzzfeed article

Last Friday I wrote a post to remind everyone to beware of Uber Surge Pricing On Halloween. Apparently one young lady in Maryland missed my post!

In my post I wasn’t sure if surge pricing was expected all over the country (since the e-mail I received and it was from Uber NYC), but apparently it was.

This Halloween was more trick than treat for 26 year old Baltimoron Gabby Wathen. Continue reading Apparently She Didn’t Read My Beware of Uber Surge Pricing Post

Beware of Uber Surge Pricing on Halloween

uber surge pricing

While I’m not at all a frequent Uber user, I’ve heard about their Surge Pricing from many people and even wrote about a $94 2-mile cab ride in NYC during a snow storm last year.

For those of you not sure about Uber surge pricing, here is a quote from my post last year:

According to GothamistSurge pricing goes into effect when demand for a car reaches exceptional levels, with examples including Halloween, New Year’s Eve, and yes, Icy Wet Snow Day From Super Hell. The idea is that prices are raised in real time in accordance with “supply health,” rising and, eventually, falling as cars become available.

Uber Driver Allegedly Attacks Passenger with Hammer

Uber- Can Someone Please Explain The Big Deal? For all of you Uber lovers out there, you better think twice the next time you step foot into your car.

After going for a run this morning with Kim, we stopped  by my father-in-law’s house to pick up Lucas. While there I was told of a really crazy and frightening story involving Uber.

An Uber driver allegedly attacked a passenger with a hammer at around 2 AM this past Tuesday. Continue reading Uber Driver Allegedly Attacks Passenger with Hammer

Cabbies Using Charm School To Compete With Uber

a logo of a companyAs most of us know,  Uber has had a major impact on the car service industry making things a bit more difficult for traditional taxi cab drivers. With a few taps of one’s smart phone, your car can be summoned and you don’t have to exchange any money since all of that stuff is done through the Uber app.

So what’s a regular taxi driver to do? How can they be more appealing to those that have seen the light and become Uber loyalists? (While we rarely take cabs, I wasn’t impressed the one time we took Uber.)

Charm school!  Continue reading Cabbies Using Charm School To Compete With Uber

Free uberFAMILY Ride Up To $50- Targeted

a poster of a family with a carWhen Uber announced uberFamily I decided to sign up even though I wasn’t too sure that I would take advantage of the service.

According to the Uber blog: uberFAMILY is the on-demand car seat option for parents on the go. With the touch of a button and a $10 surcharge, you can now easily and safely buckle up your child.

I thought that it was really awesome that Uber was thinking of families needing to get around with little ones in creating this new option. However, I find Uber to be a bit on the pricey side and am still trying to figure out what the big deal is. Continue reading Free uberFAMILY Ride Up To $50- Targeted
