Hacked! 140,000 IHG Rewards Points Were Stolen From My Account

IHG Rewards ClubYesterday I tried logging into my IHG account but ran into some trouble. From what I recall, the last time I checked out my account was just before we left for our month long trip around South Asia (figure mid-July 2019).

When I went to log in through Award Wallet, I got a message that my pin didn’t match! This made little sense but I then attempted to reset my pin. I then ran into another issue. When  I typed my e-mail in for the reset, I received a message that the e-mail didn’t match for my account!

And They’re Back! British Airways Avios Return

British Airways AviosThis past Friday many of us tried logging into our British Airways accounts to find ourselves to be locked out. Upon changing the account password and getting back in, we then found our accounts to be zeroed out!

It turned out that this was done preemptively by BA to protect our accounts. Too bad the airline wasn’t wise enough to notify us when this action took place…

Avios That Went Adios To Be Re-credited

Yesterday many of us noticed that our British Airways Avios balances were zeroed out to supposedly protect us from being hacked.

It was rather odd that British didn’t (and still hasn’t) communicated with us about exactly what is going on.

British Airways Avios

After I got home from work I stopped by the BoardingArea homepage and saw a couple of reports of British Airways Avios accounts being hacked.

I decided to read the articles from The Gate and Miles to Memories before checking in on my account.

It seems that many Avios accounts were hacked and British Airways may have used a preventative measure to protect others by locking their accounts  and/ or zeroing the balance for now. Continue reading Hey British Airways, Where Are My Avios →
