Altering Our Summer Plans Due to MH-17 Tragedy

When news started coming in a couple of weeks back about the downing of Malaysian Airlines Flight 17, I didn’t know exactly what to feel. My first thought was something like not again. I also wondered about the people onboard and learned about quite a few of them while reading (pretty much) whatever I could related to the disaster.

The idea of a plane being downed by a missile is such a scary thought, probably worse than a plane malfunction or weather causing an accident. Its crazy to think that the war in Ukraine could impact people that had absolutely nothing to do with their problems. Sad…

A couple of days after this tragedy I started to wonder about our upcoming trip in August and how these events could potentially affect us.  Continue reading Altering Our Summer Plans Due to MH-17 Tragedy

2 AA Lounge Passes For Credit Card Spend- Targeted

a man riding a bike on a trailDisclosure: I receive a commission if you apply & get approved for the US Airways credit card mentioned in this post. Thank you for supporting Michael W Travels.

Back in May I wrote about a limited time offer that I received from CitiCards. With the offer I could get two American Airlines AAdmirals Club passes for adding an authorized user and spending a pre-determined amount of money on my credit card.

I wasn’t interested in the offer for a couple of reasons:

  • I already have lounge membership due to the Citi AAdvantage Exec Card
  • I was working on spends to earn sign-up bonuses on a couple of cards

Transfer 20,000 SPG Points To 30,000 AAdvantage- No Thanks

a pool with a fire pit and a gazeboYesterday Kim, Lucas and I had a very busy (and interesting) day driving through the Midwestern U.S. I hadn’t had a ton of time to do much blog reading or Twitter checking but did come across one very interesting piece of news.

Dan’s Deals tweeted that 20,000 Starpoints transfer to 30,000 AAdvantage miles this month.

This sounded like a very interesting offer since SPG points to AA usually transfer at 20,000 points: 25,000 miles. A 20% bonus is nothing to ignore but I was definitely not interested. Continue reading Transfer 20,000 SPG Points To 30,000 AAdvantage- No Thanks

In the middle of last week there was news circulating that the amazing Citi AA Executive card 100,000 mile signup bonus was coming to an end. I had planned on applying when I heard the offer would be ending but totally forgot. When I tried applying around 12:30 AM, the page showed an error message.

Later that day I came across a link from Dan’s Deals saying that the Citi Exec offer was not gone. I decided to take a chance and apply for the card even thought the application page did not state what offer I was applying for. Continue reading That’s Fast, 3rd Citi AA Exec Card Arrives

AA Business Extra Referral Bonus Points Finally Posting

AA Biz Extra Referrals

Back in February I had  5 American Airlines Business Extra 1,000 Point Referral bonuses up for grabs.  There was a solid amount of interest so when I chose the winners I also tried to match up readers that had referrals with others looking for one.

The referrals had to be sent out by March 31 and I’d checked my AA Biz Extra a few times since but never saw any bonus points post. I began to wonder if the referrals that I sent out weren’t submitted by those that won my little referral offer? Continue reading AA Business Extra Referral Bonus Points Finally Posting

Confirmed: Citi Exec AA 100,000 Mile Offer Still Working

a close-up of a credit cardThere were reports starting yesterday that the amazing Citi American Airlines Executive card 100,000 mile bonus offer would be ending today. I first heard the news from Miles to Memories.

I’ve mentioned this awesome offer on a couple of occasions when Kim had an interesting 100,000 miles credit card approval conversation and in my Almost Mid-Year Update.

Coincidently, this past Tuesday my father-in-law was asking me how he could get a quick chunk of miles again to plan for a new trip. I mentioned applying for the AA Executive card again. He applied, called-in and was approved within 15 minutes! Continue reading Confirmed: Citi Exec AA 100,000 Mile Offer Still Working

Add Authorized User to Citi AA Amex, Get 2 Admirals Club Passes

a man and a man on bicycles on a beachDisclosure: I receive a commission if you apply & get approved for the US Airways credit card mentioned in this post. Thank you for supporting Michael W Travels.

I received a limited time offer from Citicards related to my American Airlines American Express account.

If I add an authorized user onto my account and spend $1,500 by June 30, 2014 I will receive 2 Admirals Club passes.

This sounds like a smart way on Citi’s part to try to drum up some use out of the card, however it’s of little to no use to me. Continue reading Add Authorized User to Citi AA Amex, Get 2 Admirals Club Passes
