In A Nutshell: Inle Lake, Myanmar- Pt.1

Inle Lake myanmar

After having a nice visit to Mandalay during our trip to Myanmar, it was time to move on to our next destination.

Our next stop was one that we really debated quite a bit about visiting. After much thought and reading, Kim and I decided that we couldn’t visit Myanmar and skip Inle Lake.

We’ve been to some other spectacular lakes around the world (Lake Titicaca in Peru, Lake Atitlan in Guatemala) so we needed to see what the famous Inle was like.

(For those of you that haven’t done so already- check out my post 14 Things We Learned From Visiting Myanmar (Burma).) Continue reading In A Nutshell: Inle Lake, Myanmar- Pt.1

Is Staying At Lux NYC Hotel Due To Deal Worth It?

Omni Berkshire Place Hotel

On September 18, 2014 I was on a flight to Las Vegas for the BoardingArea Conference aka BAcon. While connected through Gogo, I came across a price mistake for the Omni Berkshire Place hotel, located in midtown Manhattan on Dan’s Deals.

Upon quick inspection, the hotel looked pretty amazing. While I don’t have a real need to spend a night at a hotel in NYC, I figured why not- especially when the price was so great! Continue reading Is Staying At Lux NYC Hotel Due To Deal Worth It?

A Visit to the Original Chick-fil-A: Dwarf House

Chick fil A Dwarf House

I wouldn’t consider myself a big fan of fast food but if I had to pick a favorite, my choice would be easy- Chick-fil-A!

(I should probably mention here though that I do love to visit McDonald’s when going to new countries to see what unique items might be on the menu.)

For Memorial Day weekend in 2014, Kim, Lucas and I headed to Atlanta to check out some of what the city had to offer. We didn’t rent a car so we took the local MARTA trains and buses (along with one Uber) to get around.

Since we didn’t have a rental car, we passed on visiting one place that I really wanted to check out. Continue reading A Visit to the Original Chick-fil-A: Dwarf House

Newark Airport Food Review: Custom Burgers

Newark Airport Food

Back in November 2014 I had a chance to get a taste of  what was coming Newark Airport’s Terminal C at an event called The United Experience by OTG.

There was a long list of impressive names attached to new dining experiences coming to the terminal. Besides the new food options, the terminal would also be going high-tech with orders being done from iPads as a good example.

A couple of weeks back I caught a flight from Newark’s Terminal C on my way to the Freddies in Atlanta and didn’t realize that some of the new dining options had already opened up for business with iPad ordering and all… Continue reading Newark Airport Food Review: Custom Burgers

A Visit to the CDC Museum- Atlanta, GA

CDC Museum

Last month I headed to Atlanta with the main purpose being to attend the Freddie Awards.

However, I couldn’t just fly there for an awards ceremony. I had to find some things to do in the area. While I’d also have a chance to drag a Delta jet for a good cause, I wanted to explore more of what Atlanta had to offer.

Prior to attending the Freddies, I arranged for a tour of the Waffle House Museum and I have to say that it was pretty awesome!

I then headed out to tour another odd museum, the CDC Museum. Continue reading A Visit to the CDC Museum- Atlanta, GA

A Burger Masterpiece: Husk- Charleston

Husk Charleston
Husk Restaurant

While planning our trip to Charleston there was one restaurant that I knew I had to try, especially since it is known for one of my favorite foods (among other things on the menu).

I first came across Husk on one of those top/ best burger lists that seem to frequently pop up. It’s also been featured on a bunch of TV shows.

(Since visiting Charleston, Husk also appeared on a list of The 21 Essential Hamburgers of America.) Continue reading A Burger Masterpiece: Husk- Charleston

A Visit to the Waffle House Museum

Waffle House Museum

At the end of April I headed to Atlanta for some frequent-traveler related events. The main reason for the visit was to attend the Freddie Awards. I also had a couple of other related events on the agenda with the more interesting one being the Delta Jet Drag.

Prior to heading off to Atlanta, I was surprised to get great customer service from United. However, I did find their text messaging service to be a waste of time.

Whenever I head off on a trip, regardless of the main purpose, I have to do some research to find out what else the area might have to offer. Since I had been to Atlanta just shy of a year before, I had some ideas… Continue reading A Visit to the Waffle House Museum

In A Nutshell: Mandalay, Myanmar

Mandalay Myanmar

While we were putting together the itinerary for our trip to Myanmar there was some important decisions to make.

Our flight arrived in Mandalay Myanmar, the country’s second largest city but many would consider it one which is passable. We had to decide- should be stay for a couple of days or immediately head off to one of the other areas we planned to visit during our trip?

It was a tough call, but Kim and I both agreed that a visit to Mandalay did sound like a good idea- more so to visit some other areas (which were ancient capitals) close by.

After flying to our next destination, Kim, Lucas and I would all agree that the 2.5 days we spent in Mandalay was definitely worth our time! Continue reading In A Nutshell: Mandalay, Myanmar

14 Things We Learned From Visiting Myanmar (Burma)

Myanmar Burma
Jumping at Thisa-Wadi, Bagan

Kim, Lucas and I got back from our trip to Myanmar (Burma) earlier in the week.

This trip felt like a real adventure. Maybe it was partly due to Lucas telling us he wanted to go discover more while we wandered and climbed around temple ruins and other sites around the country!

We had a great time and created lots of new memories which we’ll never forget in possibly one of the friendliest countries that we’ve ever visited. Continue reading 14 Things We Learned From Visiting Myanmar (Burma)

Postcards From: Temple Ruins of Paleik, Myanmar

Myanmar Temples

One of the highlights of our trip to Myanmar (Burma) is sure to be our visit to Bagan, “home to the largest and densest concentration of Buddhist temples, pagodas, stupas and ruins in the world” according to Wikitravel.

When I read about an area known as “mini-Bagan”, I knew that we had to visit. It sounded like a good way to see some awesome Myanmar Temples… Continue reading Postcards From: Temple Ruins of Paleik, Myanmar
