Next weekend we’ll be heading off on one of our final trips of 2016. This will be a relatively short visit to a new state for us. I felt this was a good opportunity to use some of my Southwest points before my Companion Pass expires.

With 2016 in its final months, it looks like this will be the lowest amount of miles and points that i’ve earned from credit card bonuses in years. And sadly, I can’t see it getting much better in the future thanks to strict new approval rules with Chase…

The rest of this year’s travel plans are taking shape. It looks like we’ll be flying for a couple of more trips before the new year!

I used my City National Points for one trip and got to use some of my Southwest points for the other. I was approved for another Alaska Airlines credit card but this is looking like it will be the lowest miles & points I’ve earned from credit cards in quite some time.

My Southwest Companion Pass expires at the end of this year so I’m trying to figure out a way (time is an issue) to use up most of my points. I’m currently considering a couple of trips which would probably use up a good amount of them.

Now that I’m done with the minimum spend on my newest credit card, I’m trying to decide on what to apply for next. Since I was denied for the Chase Sapphire Reserve card, I could still try getting approved at a branch but that sounds like a pain. Since we’re now into fall, it’s time to seriously start considering some winter travel options.

I’m thinking about a quick domestic trip in a few weeks from now since I still have some Southwest Rapid Rewards points to burn. As for winter break, that is a tough one.
