This past weekend was very productive. We booked a couple of flights for upcoming trips.

I used my US Bank Altitude Reserve points to book a flight for an upcoming trip already in the works. We also booked a flight using American Airlines miles for our February trip. Over the weekend we spent a day in Queens. (Glamorous, I know!) I love Flushing Meadows- Corona Park.

We headed there so the kids could have some fun at their Halloween event, Boo At The Zoo. Besides seeing the animals and some spooky decorations, Lucas had fun doing activities to earn some candy.

I love playing tourist at home and over the weekend, we spent a good part of a day wandering around NYC’s Chinatown and Lower East Side.

Most of our exploring had to do with food (not so surprising). Next time I’d like to add more time in for some kid- friendly activities. Do you like to explore your hometown?

A couple of weeks back I wrote about how I was considering booking a cheap fare to Spain. I decided to wait for now and the prices have gone up a bit, but there still seems to be bargain options available on and off.

Rather than buy any fares, I’ve been trying to see if my American Airlines miles could be of use. There is some hope but it’s very difficult to use AA miles around school breaks. Sad…

It was nice having a long weekend, too bad we didn’t go away. However, we did attend the 1st annual New York Pizza Festival.

The event took place in the Bronx featuring pizzaiolos from all over the US as well as some from Italy. It was a really fun (and tasty) event and I’ll probably write a post about it later in the week.

There’s been some interesting deals on flights to Europe. I’m seriously considering booking a trip to Spain (the first country I visited in Europe) over our February break. With the school year back in full swing it’s been a relatively quiet week here when it comes to miles, points and travel.

Besides hoping for a big credit card offer to arise (not really expecting that), I’ve been finishing off the minimum spend on my newest credit card. Otherwise, Kim and I need to start planning our winter trip. The international flights are booked, now we need to do everything in between.
