G Adventures is giving away a trip for two to New Zealand in the “G’Day the G Way” competition

Kim and I took two trips with G Adventures when they were known as G.A.P. Adventures a few years back. While we usually like to travel independently the tours were fun and we met some very nice and like- minded travelers.

Kim and I visited New Zealand a few years back but only made it to the North Island. 
(We flew to NZ with a free stopover to Tahiti and didn’t have enough time to cover both islands.)
This prize would be amazing to win since I would love to see the amazing, natural sites on the South Island some day.

The Prize:

  • Two spots (for winner and guest) on any departure of G Adventures- “New Zealand- Best of the South Island” (ONSI) departing by 12/31/13

Review: Peanut Butter GooGoo Cluster + Winner Announced

Last week I wrote about GooGoo Clusters, a Yummy Regional Sweet. In the post I ran a giveaway of a Collector’s Tin of Assorted GooGoo Clusters. I also mentioned how I was looking forward to trying out a GooGoo flavor that I could not find anywhere in Nashville- Peanut Butter.

When I wrote GooGoo Cluster, they were kind enough to offer to send me some of the peanut butter variety and also offered a GooGoo Cluster Commector’s Tin for me to give away to one of my readers.

I was really looking forward to trying the Peanut Butter GooGoo Cluster and couldn’t wait to tear the box open when they arrived. I was sent a box of 12 PB GooGoos. This seemed like a generous amount for Kim and I to sample. (At the time of this review, we had not finished the box of GooGoos yet.)

I immediately noticed that the Peanut Butter variety seemed much smaller than the Original.
I checked the packages and saw that the PB was 1.5 oz and the Original was 1.75 oz.

The Peanut Butter GooGoo came out in 1991 and is a real treat- “Peanut Butter fans have celebrated the piquant combination of peanut butter, peanuts and real milk chocolate for two decades.”

A review of the Peanut Butter GooGoo Cluster:
Kim and I are huge fans of peanut butter fans so we were really looking forward to trying out the PB GooGoo.

From the moment you take a bite, you can taste the thick and rich peanut butter which takes up a huge portion of the cluster. The milk chocolate also stands out and goes really well with the peanut butter, making for a great taste. Although there was a fair amount of peanuts on top of the cluster, I felt they weren’t as noticeable as in the Original variety.

I also felt like the Peanut Butter GooGoo seemed a bit small. When eating an Original Cluster, it feels heavy and filling while the PB doesn’t feel so substantial. With that being said, both Clusters are still incredible and make for a tasty snack.

If I was to compare it to another peanut butter candy, a good comparison would be Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I think that the PB GooGoo is much better than a Reese’s. All of the ingredients in the GooGoo are better than those mundane PB cups. The peanut butter seems to be tastier and the chocolate is richer in the GooGoo. The peanuts on top add a nice texture and add a bit more flavor.

If I had to choose  between an Original or Peanut ButterGooGooCluster, that would be a harder decision. Overall, the Original stands out more to me, with all of the layers of flavor working better together. If I was looking for more of a peanut butter taste, then I’d go with the PB GooGoo. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

Contiki Tours is looking for the “ultimate travel shot” in it’s One Life. One Shot! Photo Contest.

Through the contest, Contiki is looking for photos to use in it’s brochures and on it’s website. 
Contiki is looking for :

Au natural and hi-res travel photos are preferred. We’re looking for unique images that capture young explorers enjoying the thrill of travel. Any amazing shot could win, but give yourself the best chance by including photos of you (and your friends) at famous landmarks from around the world.

The Prize:

  • A minimum of 3, maximum of 5 winners will win $500 and be chosen as best photo submissions.

There wasn’t much information about the Lan 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway prior to it’s start. 

Here is what I know so far:

  • The Grand Prize is an air inclusive 6 day vacation package to Lima, Peru 
  • The more you play and share, the greater your chance to win

JetBlue: The Think Up! Contest- Win Flights For A Year

JetBlue is looking for help with creating it’s first tablet experience.

They would like to hear what you would like to see on a tablet. Come up with an idea and if you’re idea gets the most votes, you will win flights for an entire year! 
Ideas are entered through Facebook in The Think Up! Contest.

Here is how this contest works:

  1. Submit your idea
  2. JetBlue experts will review and select the best five ideas in each category (Functional, Fun & Games, Ticketing & Sales, Loyalty & TrueBlue, Educational and Other) will be posted as finalists
  3. Customers then get a chance to vote for their favorites ideas

I received an e-mail from Lufthansa yesterday regarding this fun little contest even thought it looks like it has been going on for a while. It actually ends tomorrow so enter immediately if you are interested!

To enter, you get to create your own Lebkuchenherzl. 
My first reaction to this was Lebkerwhat??? 

A lebkuchenherzl or herzl are “traditional gingerbread hearts sold at the Oktoberfest in Munich”. 

It took under 2 minutes to create/ design my herzl. You get to pick a border, colors, decorations, add text and a background.

Last week I wrote about some exciting news regarding my relationship with travel clothing company SCOTTEVEST.

I’ve had a chance to use some great gear provided to me by SCOTTEVEST. A couple of my favorite items are the Fleece 5.0 (check out my review here) and Ultimate Cargo Pants. 
I’ve been using the cargo pants all summer (wearing them converted to shorts) and got a ton of use out of them on my trip to South Dakota.

For my upcoming trip to Southeast it’s going to be way to hot to wear my Fleece 5.0 so the kind folks at SCOTTEVEST offered Kim and I a SeV Travel Vest.
