Giveaway: Win 2 United Club Passes- Enter Today Only

Screen Shot 2013-09-16 at 11.22.58 PM
I just came across 2 United Club passes that I will not be able to make use of. They are expiring at the end of the month on September 30 so there isn’t much time left to use them.

I’ll be running a one day giveaway and will select a winner through Random.org later in the evening. I’ll contact the winner right after so I can get the passes in the mail before leaving for our trip to Germany (which I mentioned here) tomorrow.

Is United Airlines Improving It’s Social Media Presence?

a blue and white logo
In my opinion, United Airlines has a pretty weak social media presence compared to rival airlines Delta and American (two of the best at social meida if you ask me). However, it seems like United is starting to take social media a bit more seriously.
.
United posts to Twitter on occasion but seems to rarely interact with it’s customers or respond to tweets directed towards them. Their tweets often just share news or ask a question which rarely results in a response.

Giveaway: Win 2 United Club Passes & A Luggage Handle Cover

a blue wallet and credit cards

I have a couple of United Club passes that I no longer have a need for for due to one a couple of reason:

  1. I won’t be flying United before they expire
  2. Due to having the American Express Platinum card I can get into United clubs (with a guest) for free. My friends over at The Flight Deal pointed out that this is incorrect. I must’ve overlooked this since I haven’t flown United since last summer and I thought all major US airlines were covered. Next time I’ll be sure to read all of the terms & rules.
Since these passes are of no use to me I will be giving them away in a contest.
There are multiple ways to enter. Find out how in the widget below.

I would love for someone to make use of these passes and enjoy a United Club visit prior to an upcoming flight. I am also including a United luggage handle cover that was given out at the Chicago O’Hare 5K Runway Run back in October.

The Prize:

  • Two United Club Passes
  • One United luggage handle cover
a pair of blue and yellow cards
Rules for each United Club Pass:
  • Pass grants one person, one-time access to United Club
  • Valid at any United Club location worldwide
  • You must be 21 years of age or older to redeem
  • Valid only in United Clubs. Excludes United Arrivals Lounge and United International First Lounge
  • Expires 6/30/13
a blue rectangular object with white text
Luggage handle cover rolled up
The luggage handle cover is great for the top or side handle of a wheelie bag. It has some padding and can make your luggage easier to spot if you check your bags. I have one on Kim’s wheelie bag and it is much more comfortable to pick up the luggage when the cover is on.
Giveaway ends 6/10/13 at 12:01AM EST
Prize will only be mailed to U.S. addresses

Good Luck!!!

United Airlines 10 Million Charity Miles Giveaway

hands holding a gift box

United Airlines is donating 10 million miles to charity this holiday season.

How can we help? Every day you can vote for your favorite charity. The more votes your charity gets, the more miles they will receive during this giveaway. (All participating charities will receive at least 25,000 miles.)

I voted to support the Wounded Warrior Project. On some of the 5Ks I have ran, WWP was the charity that benefited from the funds raised. They had a table set up at the O’Hare Runway Run. I got to chat with some of the volunteers and learned a bit more about their cause.

According to the 10 Million Miles site:

Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) honors and empowers military personnel who incurred service-connected wounds, injuries, or illnesses on or after September 11, 2001. Today, through mind, body, educational, and economical empowerment programs, WWP assists wounded service members and their families as they transition to a successful, well-adjusted life.

Charity Miles will help Wounded Warrior Project by providing travel for wounded military personnel, families, and staff for program events and support services.

More about the Giveaway:

  • There is a list of 38 charities to choose from for your vote choice
  • Membership in United MileagePlus is not required to vote
  • The 10 Million Charity Miles program started on 12/6 and ends at 11:59pm on 12/25

Make sure to vote every day for whichever charity you choose to support. Every vote that you make will help increase the percentage of Charity Miles they receive!

South Dakota Trip In A Nutshell

The Family

We’ve been back from South Dakota for a couple of days now so it’s time to write a little about the trip.

Our flights went smoothly and Lucas was once again a great traveler. Many of the other passengers commented on how good he was.
.
United Airlines’ new policy of not allowing families with young children to board early is a bit ridiculous if you ask me. However on 2/3 flights (for our second we had to run to make the flight after a late flight arrival) the super friendly staff allowed us to board early anyways. It was on the last flight (Houston to Laguardia) that I was really taken by surprise.

Our Upcoming Trip To South Dakota

We’re leaving early Wednesday morning on our second trip (flying) with Lucas. I originally wanted to go to Europe but didn’t feel that it was worth the money or miles for a one week trip.

We decided to visit South Dakota instead.

I usually would not decide to stay in the US and pass up the opportunity to visit another country but this time it made a lot of sense.
