SPG Starpoints are one of the most valuable miles & points currencies out there due to the ability to transfer 20,000 points to a variety or airlines, getting a 5,000 mile bonus. What this means is a 20,000 points transfer becomes 25,000 airline miles!

Another Starpoints redemption that can be quite valuable is when booking 5 nights at a property you only pay for 4. This saved us some points during our stay at the Le Meridien St Julians in Malta.

Over the summer I wrote about some SPG new credit card benefits which accompanied an annual fee increase. In an earlier post I had wondered if the SPG credit card changes and fee increase was worth the perks.

I feel that deciding the value of paying a credit card annual fee has a lot to do with each individual. I could see arguments made both ways for those changes made to the SPG card.

When new perks were added & changes were made to the Amex SPG credit card I wondered if the $30 fee increase was worth it.

Some positive new perks were now added but I wasn’t so sure that they were things I’d actually pay for. The new benefits went live a couple of weeks back and with them came increased 30K signup offers for new members.

Back in early June I wondered, Is the SPG Credit Card $30 Fee Increase Worth the Perks?

I felt that a solid amount of benefits were being added for the increased fee. However, they added no actual monetary value to the card. In other words, while the benefits are nice, I wouldn’t pay to have any of them.

SPG AmexI currently have both the personal and business Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) American Express cards.

Both cards currently have a $65 annual fee although it is free for the first year you have it.

The biggest benefit to the card is when transferring points to airlines, 20,000 SPG points will become 25,000 airline miles/ points! You also earn 2 Starpoints on eligible purchases at participating Starwood properties.
