The Michael W Travels family spent the past four nights at the beautiful Park Hyatt St Kitts.

We had a very nice visit and I plan to write a review as well as share some money saving tips for visiting this pricey property. Today, we’re spending the day in Miami before heading back home.

Tomorrow, the Michael W Travels family heads off on our first trip of the summer.

W e’re heading to St Kitts & Nevis. This will be the first visit for all of us to this Caribbean country. Plans for our month long trip are moving along nicely. Once we return from St Kitts, Kim and I need to book lots of accommodations and one more flight.

Kim and I have been very busy working on plans for our two summer trips. We ran into a car rental issue which was solved with some calling around via Skype.

Now we’re working out the itinerary for our longer trip which is still a long way from being completed.

RIP Anthony Bourdain.

The world was shocked by the surprising death of Anthony Bourdain a few days back. Many of us have been affected by this in one way or another. Most of us would say that he had the dream job- traveling all over the world, eating great food and meeting interesting people. Maybe that kind of life isn’t all that its cracked up to be.

Here is one of my favorite Tony Bourdain quotes:

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you… You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”

I’ve been reading and watching stories about him all weekend. Yes, I’ll go back and watch (or rewatch) episodes to destinations we’ll be visiting on future trips. I think many of us will. I recently applied for another credit card. The bank requested that I mail in more info before the final decision was made as to whether or not I’d be approved.

I’ve yet to send in the info but really need to do so. I just don’t get why it needs to be mailed in! Hasn’t the bank heard of e-mail!

I recently applied for the Jetblue Business Card. I was glad that I wasn’t rejected but I do need to send in more info to see if I’ll be approved. Credit card hurdles…

The Michael W Travels family is a little over a month away from our next trip which is the first of a busy summer season of travel. We still have some planning to do for that trip and then need to really get working on our longer month- long trip.

Over the weekend, the Michael W Travels family visited Diggerland USA , a construction theme park for their 2018 Media Day. The park has expanded quite a bit and added lots of new rides since our visit back in 2014. (Check back for a recap of our most recent visit.)

I don’t have much time left to book my IHG Free night. I’ve narrowed down my options and am hoping to book a Kimpton property for a stay in a few weeks from now. After much debate, I finally booked a flight using American Airlines miles for our one month summer trip. Our miles will get us to our first destination, but we may need to use cash to book our flight home. That’s the problem with miles and points- you can’t always get what you want!

Lucas has been wanting to return to Diggerland Construction Theme Park for quite some time. It looks like we’ll be doing a last minute trip there this upcoming weekend thanks to a media invite. We’ll use IHG points to book a night close by rather than having to drive home immediately after.
