Hello all! We’re currently on our first trip of the summer and writing from Nicaragua!

Our flight on Copa left quite early (or late depending on how you look at it) at 2:00 AM on Saturday morning.  We flew in business class which was actually quite comfortable and allowed us all to get a lot of sleep during our quick 5 hour flight to Panama. We’re less than a week away from our next trip. Planning has been moving along well. We have a couple of hotel nights booked and an itinerary more or less in place. This week we’ll finish off booking the rest of our hotels.

Since I’m a week away from this trip, it also means that it’s the last week of the school year, well at least until the summer session begins.

With our next trip less than two weeks away, it’s probably time to come up with an itinerary.  Kim and I need to start booking hostels/ hotels and finish planning this trip!

Yesterday we spent a few hours at the awesome Big Apple BBQ Block Party in NYC. The barbecue takes place in Madison Square Park featuring pitmasters from all over the country.

Are any of you still thinking about what was lost with the Club Carlson second night free benefit going away last week? I am!

While I made a bunch of bookings, there seemed to be some that got away… I was hoping to spend at least a couple of night at the Radisson Blu 1919 in Reykjavik and also check out the Radisson Aruba Resort (among others).

After spending over 400,000 Gold Points I still have quite a bit left. I’m sure they’ll get value somewhere down the line, just not as much as I would’ve hoped for. My biggest priority this week in terms of travel (and odds are for many of you too) was to use as many Club Carlson Gold Points as possible for future stays. Since rooms can usually be canceled I wanted to book lots of hotel stays before the second night free benefit for credit card holders goes away tonight, May 31.

I wrote how we redeemed 304,000 points as of a few days back. Since then I’ve used another 176,000 points on three additional stays. This still leaves me with a lot of Gold Points. I wish there was a way that I could’ve figured out even more dates to book!
