Tomorrow, the Michael W Travels family heads off on our first trip of the summer.

W e’re heading to St Kitts & Nevis. This will be the first visit for all of us to this Caribbean country. Plans for our month long trip are moving along nicely. Once we return from St Kitts, Kim and I need to book lots of accommodations and one more flight.

Kim and I have been very busy working on plans for our two summer trips. We ran into a car rental issue which was solved with some calling around via Skype.

Now we’re working out the itinerary for our longer trip which is still a long way from being completed.

RIP Anthony Bourdain.

The world was shocked by the surprising death of Anthony Bourdain a few days back. Many of us have been affected by this in one way or another. Most of us would say that he had the dream job- traveling all over the world, eating great food and meeting interesting people. Maybe that kind of life isn’t all that its cracked up to be.

Here is one of my favorite Tony Bourdain quotes:

“Travel isn’t always pretty. It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s OK. The journey changes you; it should change you… You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind.”

I’ve been reading and watching stories about him all weekend. Yes, I’ll go back and watch (or rewatch) episodes to destinations we’ll be visiting on future trips. I think many of us will. I recently applied for another credit card. The bank requested that I mail in more info before the final decision was made as to whether or not I’d be approved.

I’ve yet to send in the info but really need to do so. I just don’t get why it needs to be mailed in! Hasn’t the bank heard of e-mail!
