Fodor’s: 10 Best National Parks To Visit This Winter

a close-up of a logoDuring our travels we haven’t had the opportunity to visit a great deal of National Parks in the United States. I can actually count the number on one hand and have a finger or two left over.

Here are the parks we’ve visited:

On Lucas’ second trip we got to visit Badlands National Park in South Dakota which was pretty amazing. The only problem was not having more time to explore. During our last trip of 2012 to Louisville & Nashville, we visited Mammoth Cave National Park which is the world’s longest cave system. I visited Grand Canyon West with my brother a few years back and got to experience the Skywalk. However the Skywalk is outside the Grand Canyon NP. Our most recent visit to a national park was this past Thanksgiving. During our trip to Florida we got to finally visit the Everglades.

Fodor’s: 14 Festivals To Attend Before You Die

a close-up of a logoThis past September, we finally got to attend a festival that I’ve been dying to go to for years- Oktoberfest. We had an incredible time and I’d love to go again in the future.

Fodor’s included Oktoberfest in a slideshow that was of interest to me, 14 Festivals To Attend Before You Die.

Festivals included in the slideshow take place all around the world. Some of the festivals I’ve heard of and would love to check out in person, while some of them were new to me.

Fodor’s: 10 Places To See Before They’re Gone

a close-up of a logoFodor’s has an interesting slide show of “amazing sights that are gradually disappearing“.  There are various factors leading to the demise of the 10 sites on this list.

According to the article “scientists contend that climate change is affecting oceans, reefs, beaches and even cities leading to potentially drastic changes“. The article also attributes development as another danger.

While looking over the list, a very different reason came to mind which might lead to the end for many of these sites- accessibility. Some of these sites used to be hard to get to which kept the crowds in check. However,  these days it’s not too hard to fly to (or close to) most of these sites. If you can’t fly there, boats and large cruiseships are always another option.

Fodor’s: The World’s Best Holiday Markets

a close-up of a logo

I’ve heard about amazing holiday markets that pop up every year, about a month or so prior to Christmas all around the world. I haven’t made a trip to any of these markets and can’t say that I plan to. However, if I was in one of the cities known for it’s holiday market during the right time of year, I’d definitely stop by and check it out.

I recently came across a slideshow on Fodor’s featuring the World’s Best Holiday Markets. I checked out which places made the list and didn’t think much more about it until yesterday. While walking around a small town in Pennsylvania, I noticed signs for a market/ gift fair in an old church which made me think about the Fodor’s article.
