Beer Tasting in Bruges, Belgium

a bottle of beer in a store
While on a trip to Belgium my brother and I wanted to try as many beers as possible. In many bars, the beer menu is the size of a book. It can be really hard to decide which beers to try but the waiters are usually happy to give suggestions.
.
Some of the beers could be pricey so we thought of a plan to order one beer at a time & share them. (This way we would always have a cold beer & could maximize our beer tastings.)

I went in late June and luckily there wasn’t much of a wait. I had read that the lines could go way out the door and could be over an hour.

Lucy is a quick drive from Atlantic City and designated a National Historic Landmark.

If you pay for the tour, you get to go inside by climbing up a staircase inside one of Lucy’s legs. Inside there is a small museum with various artifacts. There are also some nice panoramic views from the howdah (the canopy seat on top of the elephant)

I’ve lived in Brooklyn,NY my whole life and never thought much about visiting the Statue of Liberty. When I read on NewYorkology that the statue would be closing at the end of October for upgrades, I figured why not go before it closes.

Originally we went on our visit in July but due to extreme heat that day the crown was closed. We rescheduled and visited today. Continue reading A Visit to the Crown of the Statue of Liberty

Swimming & Kayaking with Manatees- Crystal River, Florida

a manatee under water

I first read about kayaking with manatees on Crystal River in Nat Geo Adventures Magazine. I looked into doing it and found out that Crystal River was the only place in the world where it was legal to swim with manatees. We decided to go swimming & snorkeling the first day and the following day we did the kayak trip. We were lucky to find this friendly & curious manatee that kept coming over to us to play!
