Last month I wrote a couple of posts about an easy way to enter to win 100,000 Club Carlson Gold Points by sending out a tweet.

There are three prizes of 100,000 Gold Points being given out during three entry periods. However, Entry Period 1 ended yesterday, so a shot at one of the prizes is already gone.

Qantas and Destination New South Wales are giving two lucky winners an amazing trip (for two) to Sydney, Australia to see the L.A. Dodgers play in one of their opening series games.

This trip sounds like the perfect prize. Kim and I went on our honeymoon to Australia and would love to visit again some day. For those of you that don’t know, baseball is my favorite sport and I love visiting new stadiums. During our trip to Japan, I even got to see a game there. Southwest Spirit Magazine is giving away a trip for 2 to Wichita, Kansas- The Air Capital of the World.

I was wondering why Wichita was known as The Air Capital of the World so I decided to find out.

According to Go Wichita Convention & Visitors Bureau: 

The population of Wichita nearly doubled in 1918 after a great oil reserve was discovered nearby. In turn, the oil money allowed local entrepreneurs to invest in the up and coming airplane industry. Men like Lloyd Stearman, Walter Beech, and Clyde Cessna brought the industry to the area, and during World War II it was the major manufacturing center for airplanes needed in the war effort. Wichita remains the center for the aircraft industry, the “Air Capital of the World,” producing 70% of U.S. general aviation aircraft.

The contest follows on from the British Airways #ManVsPlane Youtube video featuring South Africa Rugby legend Bryan Habana. In the race, Habana goes up against an A380.

Blood, Seat & Cheers is sponsoring a contest where you could win a trip for 2 to the Bourbon Classic in Louisville, Kentucky.

At the end of 2012 Kim, Lucas and I visited Louisville but we didn’t have time to stop at any of the bourbon distilleries while driving to Nashville. I can’t say that I’m a bourbon drinker but I would love to go back to Louisville and check out the event.
