A couple of weeks back my not so little man Lucas reached double digits! I can’t believe that he is 10 years old! To celebrate, we had our favorite burger at Peter Luger.

Due to COVID, 2020 wasn’t a very good year for anyone. In terms of travel, Lucas and I took a trip to the Netherlands, otherwise, we all went on some bunch of road trips.

While I didn’t write a 9th birthday post for my young world traveler, he was at 65 countries (UN Member States), adding only one new country that year.

This past year fared much better for us. However, we didn’t get back on a plane until late June, the day after the school year ended!

Lucas’s first flight (since our trip to the Netherlands in February 2021) was to El Salvador. After that, we went on a month-long trip around the Balkans. During this trip, Lucas reached a huge travel milestone!

He made it to his 70th country at just 9 years old! (This does not include various disputed territories he’s also visited.) Yes, Lucas is a true world traveler.

Here are some Travel Stats for 2021:

Lucas’s flight stats for 2021: Lucas flew a little under 15,000 miles this year. (This doesn’t sound like much but we also took a bunch of road trips including driving around the Balkans for 30 days.)

In 2021 Lucas flew 6 segments for 14,674miles. It took a day & 8:19 hours. 

Where did Lucas go in 2021? Lucas visited 5 new countries and one new (US) state. (Check the bottom of the post for a photo from each new country Lucas visited.)
