Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Kids Week: February 2014

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum’s Kids Week 2014 is coming next month.

Events will be held for 9 days, from February 15-23.

If you’re in the New York City area or going to be visiting, this sounds like an event worth checking out if you are traveling with kids!

I’ve been wanting to visit the Intrepid for years and still haven’t made it there. It’s funny how as a native New Yorker I feel like I’ve done little in my own city compared to ones that I’ve traveled to.

Space Shuttle Enterprise- I missed the flight but saw the boat ride!

When the Space Shuttle Enterprise flew to New York from Washington D.C. I was bummed that I didn’t get to see it in person. I had work that morning and by the time I got out, the shuttle had already landed at JFK Airport.

I knew that the shuttle would be making it’s way to New Jersey by barge at some point in June before ending up at it’s final stop, The Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.

Kim, Lucas and I headed to the Belt Parkway walking path to get the chance to see the shuttle make it’s way by barge from the airport to NJ. It just so happens that it would be passing by very close to where we live, under a 10 minute ride in the car. We left early to get a decent parking spot and then waited for the shuttle to float by.

Space Shuttle Enterprise Coming to Intrepid Summer 2012

I’ve been wanting to visit the Intrepid for years and never got around to it. A tour of the Concorde is enough of a reason to visit but with the space shuttle Enterprise finding it’s new home there, how could you not want to check it out.

In November 2011 NASA transferred the title of space shuttle Enterprise to the Intrepid Museum. In the spring of 2012 the shuttle will be flown from DC to JFK airport by ferry-flight aboard a 747 NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. It will then be transported by barge during the summer to the Intrepid.
