Last month I went on my first Father Son trip with Lucas to Poland. The trip went really well and we already have our next trip planned for early July!

This past weekend, Lucas and I went on our first mini road trip without Kim. Rather than sit in the car for 3+ hour drives, Kim stayed home to relax while Lucas and I went to Lancaster, PA- Amish country. The trip was way too short, but it was still fun to get away. The trip was mainly taken due to a booking I made a year back just before the Club Carlson stay 2 credit card bonus went away. Last week I mentioned that I was looking for a new credit card to apply for which came with a big bonus.

Just a day or two later, a lot was written about the American Express Platinum Mercedes-Benz card which got me thinking about applying. The card comes with a very nice 75,000 bonus points offer, $200 yearly airline credit and more but it also comes with a hefty $475 annual fee. After thinking it over, I decided to apply and got instant approval!

Lucas and I just got back from our first Father Son Trip last week, and I already have plans for our second one in early July. Otherwise, there isn’t much being planned besides some short weekend trips, 2-3 hours drive from home.

With the minimum spends completed for my two newest credit cards, its time to start thinking about applying for another card. I’m hoping for some new options with a hefty bonus offers to come.

Now that April is here, I need to start finalizing plans for my trip which is coming up at the end of the month. It looks like this will be a good opportunity to use my Club Carlson Free-Night Certificates.

(Many of us received a free night certificate when the second night free benefit ended.)

My Barclays JetBlue card arrived recently. The spend is already completed so I’ll be looking out for the bonus points to post to my account. Now it’s time to work on reaching the spend on my new United Explorer card. Last week was an interesting one for me when it came to using my American Airlines miles. I had to cancel an award booking for a trip that I was really looking forward to but ended up booking a trip in business class for a different one! (More on that another time…)

My Chase United credit card finally arrived. It took close to two weeks to get here. It won’t be hard to complete the spend since I need to pay for Lucas’s school at the end of the week. (FYI- I’m still waiting to receive my new JetBlue Barclaycard.)

Kim and I were invited for a visit to the Mount Airy Casino Resort in the Poconos (Pennsylvania) this past weekend. Keep an eye out for an upcoming review. It’s been a busy week over here with some good news on the credit card application front.

I’ve also been trying to figure out what to do with the upcoming American Airlines devaluation. Considering Kim, Lucas and I tend to usually fly coach, the upcoming changes aren’t such a big deal to us. However, I’ve been debating whether or not I should get in one last premium cabin award booking!
