Happy Holidays! We’re currently away on our winter trip. We’ll be checking out Costa Rica until the end of the week!

We’re now less than a week away from heading off on our next trip. This will be Theo’s first international trip which is pretty exciting. For seasoned traveler Lucas, it will be his 33rd country!

Just a reminder: I hope that all of you look over your credit card statements. You never know what might show up. I was looking over my Chase Ink statement and found a fraudulent charge. RehashOur winter trip is less than two weeks away and besides needing to book a rental car, we’re finally done with the other important details! For the bulk of the trip the Michael W Travels family will be using Homeaway (which seems quite similar to Airbnb…) for the first time.

I’m debating whether or not I can get one more credit card approval in before the year is up since I’ve completed the minimum spend on my newest card.

This weekend we stayed at The Warwick Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia. The property was formerly the Radisson Blu Warwick. This was our final Club Carlson stay booked with the 2nd night free benefit. It sure felt like the end of an era for hotel bookings although we booked way back in May 2015.

Otherwise, we’re still working on finalizing trip itineraries for a few things coming up. We spent a night at the Radisson Martinique in Manhattan as a way to use our last Club Carlson free night before it expired.

Did you all do a lot of Black Friday shopping? We didn’t go out and wait on crazy lines for anything but I did purchase us a flight for February. Over the past week I did a lot of credit card and travel reward housecleaning, so to speak. I used some soon to expire hotel free nights as well as some expiring airline points.

Next on our agenda, besides finishing the booking details of some upcoming trips is getting Lucas a new passport as well as a first for Theo. This week I was approved for what’s most likely the last credit card I’ll get in 2016. This will probably cap off the lowest total of miles and points earned from credit cards in quite some time.

I’m also making some progress with our upcoming winter break trip. I’m hoping to finish booking all of the details soon so that I can then move on with the plans for our spring break trip (so far all we’ve booked are the flights).

We spent this past weekend in Washington, DC at the third Boarding Area Conference aka BAcon. It was a busy weekend but I wish that I had at least an extra day to spend a little time wandering around the area.

Theo got to fly on his second trip while Lucas sat this one out.

The delays coming and going into LaGuardia are beyond awful. If possible, I’d love to skip flying through the airport until all of the construction is done but I know that this will most likely not be possible! We’re currently away on our first trip (flying) as a family of 4. Besides needed to bring along some extra gear, things have gone smoothly for us. We also got to visit with family that we haven’t seen in a long time, which was nice.
