NYC public schools are currently on Mid-Winter Recess. Last year, Lucas and I took a trip to the Netherlands.

It’s now been a year since we last stepped foot on a plane. I’m hoping that we’ll get to go away at the end of the school year and fly somewhere. If not for the need to quarantine upon return to New York, we’d look to fly somewhere during Spring Break. Today is a very important day… Happy National Pizza Day! 🙂

After I got the second dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine, I celebrated with a couple of slices at New Park Pizza in Howard Beach, NY.

It was conveniently close to where I got poked and it also used to be one of my favorite pizzerias in NYC. (It isn’t as good as it used to be but the slices today were excellent!) Last weekend, we headed into NYC to dine outdoors at Momofuku Ko a two Michelin stared restaurant!

As you may already know, Momofuku is known for their Asian-American cuisine.  However, we went to try some more of their pizza! (We did take out once before but tried different pies this time around.)

Over the holiday weekend we headed back to Pennsylvania for a night.

We visited an awesome site in Bethlehem, PA that I plan to write about in the future and the kids got to go to Legoland Discovery Center the following day. Over the weekend, we visited a fun science museum in New Jersey for Lucas’s 9th birthday. Since we crossed state lines, it was a good excuse to go on a little pizza tour, visiting four shops!

We plan to continue the celebration this weekend by going away for a couple of nights since we’re off on Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Goodbye to 2020 and hello 2021. I can’t imagine this year being worse than last. It will take a lot to top it! Hopefully things start to take a turn for the better, although with the current spike in COVID cases, it sure doesn’t feel that way…

I hope that everyone had a nice holiday. We are trying to enjoy the few more days we have before we go back to work.

This is the most bizarre Winter Break for us, yet. Due to the need to quarantine for four days upon returning from most places in the US and internationally, we haven’t gone far from home. We’re currently in Philadelphia and will probably check out some other areas in Pennsylvania or NJ. Exciting, right? 🙂
