As the winter break nears, we’ve been busy tying up lose ends surrounding our upcoming trip. The last things to do on our list are booking tickets for a few sights we plan to visit in an attempt to avoid long lines.
Otherwise, it’s been pretty slow here when it comes to travel.

If you happen to be visiting New York City over the holidays, I have a good show recommendation for you (and it’s kid- friendly).
I got an invite to the show The Illusionists, Magic of the Holidays which is on Broadway. Kim and I didn’t know what to expect. It was really entertaining, funny and definitely left us wondering- how did they do that! I hope that everybody had a nice Thanksgiving Weekend.
Besides doing some shopping (online only), we headed to Philadelphia for a one- night visit where we ate some good food. We also went to the Legoland Discovery Center, which both Lucas and Theo really love.

Last week I wrote about how I had applied for a credit card and was awaiting a response as to whether or not I was approved.
I expected a call from the bank for more information before getting a decision. To my surprise, I received an envelope over the weekend with my new credit card inside!

This has been a rough year for getting approved for new credit cards. I’ve applied for less cards than usual this year and have also been rejected a bunch of times due to having too many credit cards.
I’m now waiting to find out the response for a card I applied for a few days back. At this point, I think it pays for me to take a break for a while and just get Kim some new cards. This past weekend was very productive. We booked a couple of flights for upcoming trips.
I used my US Bank Altitude Reserve points to book a flight for an upcoming trip already in the works. We also booked a flight using American Airlines miles for our February trip. It was surprising to find award availability around a holiday! Over the weekend we spent a day in Queens. (Glamorous, I know!) I love Flushing Meadows- Corona Park.
We headed there so the kids could have some fun at their Halloween event, Boo At The Zoo. Besides seeing the animals and some spooky decorations, Lucas had fun doing activities to earn some candy.
Afterwards, we went on a short pizza tour with two stops! (Always my idea of fun…) Continue reading Tragedy In Costa Rica, Family Visit To Park Hyatt St Kitts, I Met The CEO Of An Airline, Tragedy At Yosemite, Put Phone In A Box When Dining, Lyft Ride Credit Offer & More- The Rehash
I love playing tourist at home and over the weekend, we spent a good part of a day wandering around NYC’s Chinatown and Lower East Side.
Most of our exploring had to do with food (not so surprising). Next time I’d like to add more time in for some kid- friendly activities. Do you like to explore your hometown?

A couple of weeks back I wrote about how I was considering booking a cheap fare to Spain. I decided to wait for now and the prices have gone up a bit, but there still seems to be bargain options available on and off.
Rather than buy any fares, I’ve been trying to see if my American Airlines miles could be of use. There is some hope but it’s very difficult to use AA miles around school breaks. Sad…

It was nice having a long weekend, too bad we didn’t go away. However, we did attend the 1st annual New York Pizza Festival.
The event took place in the Bronx featuring pizzaiolos from all over the US as well as some from Italy. It was a really fun (and tasty) event and I’ll probably write a post about it later in the week.
