After writing earlier in the day about Fodor’s list of 10 Best National Parks To Visit This Winter, I found it fitting to post about a yearly deal related to the NPs.
Every year the National Park Service set aside a select list of dates for Free Entrance Days in the National Parks.
While I’ve really enjoyed visiting a few of the national parks, I’m sure that they are even better when they are also a great deal!

As 2013 came to an end, it also meant the end to my Companion Pass status with Southwest Airlines.
It’s been a fun ride which we will get to continue since Kim now has the status. The big problem is that Lucas will need his own seat in 2014 making the pass a bit less valuable.
I earned the Companion Pass in late 2012 and Kim, Lucas & I enjoyed visiting lots of places around the U.S. thanks to it’s amazing value.
The Companion Pass allows you to designate one person that gets to fly with you just for the cost of tax ($2.50 per segment). When you book a flight with your points, they are essentially worth double if a companion flies with you. This is basically like earning double the amount of points from Southwest.

Delta is running a last minute shopping bonus offer where you could earn an easy 250 miles.

Yesterday I received a new bonus offer for my US Airways Mastercard.
Earlier in the year I received a bonus offer in the mail while this time it came via e-mail. However, this time around the offer is much less lucrative.

After posting about generous offers from United MileagePlus Dining and SkyMiles Dining, it made me think about other dining programs available from airline and hotel programs. I figured that it was time to take advantage of earning some easy miles and points.
I’ve been using the American Airlines dining program for years and have used only one other program in the past. In 2011 I registered for US Airways dining so I could get a hit towards the Grand Slam promotion.

Back in April I wrote about a new bike share program coming to New York, Citi Bike.
I’ve seen bike share programs around the world, the first time being in Copenhagen. When I first heard of the bike share in Copenhagen, I had to try it out, especially since it was free. While the bikes weren’t great it was still a fun activity and a great way to get around. (Find out more about it in the link above.)
The biggest difference I noticed when I head about Citi Bike in NYC were the high costs to use the program if you wanted to use a bike for more than a short ride. The NY program is more beneficial to locals than a fun way for tourists to borrow bikes while visiting the city.
Club Carlson’s Park Plaza has some good prices for stays in select locations around Europe.
Rooms can be had for as little as £69 (around $93) per night in the UK, the Netherlands & Germany for winter travel. Stays can be booked at these rates until February 28, 2014.
Rooms must be booked by December 6 and these rates include bed & breakfast for up to two people.
