There’s been lots of news recently of people attempting to sneak into Europe with poor results. The sad part of the story is that many, possibly thousands have died trying to get smuggled in onboard ships and ferries.

Last month, there was news that 700 people may have drowned in one  accident alone in what’s being described as Europe’s migration crisis, according to the New York Times.

I came across a story from Yahoo about an even crazier way that a young boy was almost smuggled in.

An 8-year-old boy from Ivory Coast was hidden in a suitcase while being smuggled into Spanish territory.

The suitcase was being brought through “a pedestrian crossing from Morocco into the small Spanish-governed territory of Cueta” by a 19-year-old woman.

According to the article the suitcase was put through a scanner when the operator noticed something strange which looked like a person…

When they opened up the suitcase they found the 8-year-old boy “in a horrible state“.

The boy’s father was also arrested while trying to cross the border hours later. The father lives in Spain’s Canary Islands but is from the Ivory Coast.

Talk about a crazy story…
