For those of you that love to text, now you can do so on Southwest flights as long as you have an Apple device.

Southwest is enabling iMessage for $2 a day.

iMessage can be used by any Apple user that has iOS 5 or later with the iMessage features pre-loaded on their device.

Southwest plans to add a messaging option for Android devices in early 2014. If you have a favorite messaging app for your Andriod device, let Southwest know what it is.

I am not  a big texter so this option doesnt really appeal to me but I could see it being of interest to many.

It’s also another option for inflight entertainment.

Southwest offers:

  • Free live and on-demand TV compiments of DISH
  • Internet Access- $8 per day, per device
  • Movies- $5 per movie, per device, over 25 current & classic titles

What do you think about Southwest offering iMessage on flights? Is it something that you’d be interested in paying for? I’ll stick to free TV or if I want to splurge, pay for internet access.

Check out the Southwest blog post about using iMessage HERE.
