Around a year back those of us with US Airways credit cards became American Airlines AAdvantage Aviator Red card holders.
While I haven’t used the card much, I did hold onto it when Barclays gave me a retention offer. The bank has had some decent bonus offers from time to time plus cardmembers get perks like 10% off redeemed miles, up to 10,000 miles per year. Those were enough reasons to keep the card with no fee.
I just received a new bonus offer where I can earn up to 2,500 AAdvantage miles.
With this new offer, I can earn 2 bonus miles for every $1 spent in a few categories.
Bonus miles can be earned on:
- Gas purchases
- Restaurant purchases
- Home improvement store purchases
Some Rules:
- A maximum of 2,500 miles can be earned with this offer. (That’s in addition to the usual miles earned for your purchases.)
- To qualify, the offer needs to be activated by May 30, 2016.
- Offer is for select card members and is not transferable.
Did you receive this bonus offer for your AAdvantage Aviator Red card? If so do you plan to try to earn the bonus miles?
While I always like to earn bonuses I think that I’ll pass on this one. I was recently approved for a couple of new credit cards and now need to work on the minimum spends to earn the bonus. (I recently received my JetBlue and United Explorer card.)
I will get 15,000 miles if I spend $500 each month of May, June and July. They waived my annual fee last year, and it will post on my May statement. I think I will probably keep the card and pay the fee since 15,000 miles is probably worth the annual fee
Maria- I had received this offer too! Looks like Barclays/ AA really wants us to earn some bonus miles (or use the card).
Patrick- Which cards are you working on earning the bonus for?
Jrg- Not bad at all!
Michael Belisle- Maybe a better one will come along in the future!
I haven’t gotten this offer. Wish I did. I just recently decided to start using this card more
I just finished my retention offer requirements – they waived the annual fee and I got 5000 miles for spending $1000 in three months. Probably drop the card next year, though.
I turned it down for the exact same reason… Plus I’d rather put the required spend on my SPG card.
Didn’t get it. Got this offer instead (far less valuable):
To celebrate the partnership between American Airlines and Uber, we’re making Uber rides more rewarding with your AAdvantage® Aviator™ Red MasterCard®. Through July 31, 2016, you will earn 2 American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles for every $1 spent on Uber purchases when you use your card to pay for your ride.¹
Best of all, this bonus miles offer comes with no limit on the number of miles you can earn and is in addition to the AAdvantage® miles you already earn.
