It’s safe to say that the majority of us would assume that pooping on subways and busses is not allowed.

However, NYC’s MTA (Metropolitan Transportation Authority) was “slated to formally ban defecating on its subways, buses and transit facilities during its meeting“, according to the New York Post.

The Post mentioned how making number 2 is already banned and it comes with a $100 fine for “creating a nuisance, hazard, or unsanitary condition (including, but not limited to, spitting or urinating).”

The new vote, if passed would specifically add “defecating” to the list of what one can’t leave behind from their body.

There have been an increase in complaints of filthy subway cars but the MTA claimed it was just an increase in reports due to “more vigilant riders, not worsening conditions.”

In a statement, MTA spokesman Tim Minton said, “MTA rules are periodically tweaked to enhance clarity, and that’s the case with the addition of more descriptive language.

I’m not so sure I understand why this needed to be made more explicit. I think it’s obvious that pooping on the subway is illegal (and disgusting)!
