Last week our little man Lucas turned 8 years-old!
Rather than have a birthday party, our family opted to celebrate by going on a quick trip to Philadelphia (probably our favorite city close to NYC). Since we all love to travel, this was a great way to celebrate!
I can still remember our first trip with Lucas at 3 months old to Barbados and now, here he is at 8 years-old having already visited 64 countries! No, that isn’t a typo, before turning 8, Lucas made it past 60 countries. Yes, Lucas is a true world traveler!
During the first stop of our month-long trip to South Asia, Lucas made it to his 60th country (UN member state), the Maldives!
We planned to take one more international trip before 2019 came to a close but flights were just too pricey. Instead, we decided to take a road trip to the Deep South where we had the chance to visit a few new states and also revisit some that we had previously been to.
Here are some Travel Stats for 2019:
Lucas’s flight stats for 2019: Lucas flew a little under 48,000 miles this year. This is a slight drop from 2018 year but only by 2,000 miles.
In 2019 Lucas flew 22 segments for 47,856 miles. It took 4 days & 10:33 hours. Lucas spent around 7.5 less hours in the air this year than last year. All of our flights were in economy this year. While we love to fly in premium cabins, it just doesn’t fit our budget regardless of it being cash or airline miles.
Where did Lucas go in 2019? Lucas visited 10 new countries and four new (US) states. (Check the bottom of the post for a photo from each new country Lucas visited.)
Countries Visited: (listed in order visited)
- Spain

At the end of 2019, Lucas has now traveled around 64 countries (UN member states)

Happy 8th Birthday to world traveler Lucas Miles! Keep being curious, adventurous, silly and awesome! We’re very proud of you and look forward to a great 2020!

2020 should be a great year!
We have a couple of trips coming up which we’re really excited for! Lucas and I will be going on our first Father-Son trip (in quite some time) next month.
I’d expect Lucas to pass the 70 countries visited mark by the time 2020 comes to a close!
