The Best Secret Button I’ve Found On Airplane Seats

airplane seatsIn December 2017 I wrote a post about the secret button on airplane seats.

The secret button allows you to raise theĀ  aisle seat’s armrest which can help your flight experience for a couple of reasons. It can give you more space to stretch your legs and also makes it easier for you to get up from your seat after the plane has landed.

Then a few months back I found a not-so secret button on United Airlines airplane seats during a flight from Saint Louis to Chicago.

We’re now in the final day of our month-long trip around South Asia. During this trip we flew on 12 flights so far.

During our most recent flight with Vistara from Goa to Mumbai, I was really surprised and impressed by the secret button on the airplane seats!airplane seatsLook at the ball close to the red arrow in the photo above.

Rather than have to stick your finger into a dirty hole under the armrest, the Boeing 737-800 had little smooth balls to push to make raising it a piece of cake!

When I showed Lucas the trick he was amazed. Throughout the flight, he played with the armrest, lifting and lowering it. He thought it was so cool that the aisle armrest could move up and down.

I don’t know about you but on each flight, after sitting down, the first thing I usually do is check for the secret button on airplane seats.

If you haven’t tried this before, raise the armrest and see how much better your flying experience can be!

  1. Please stop giving ideas to your readers that will make it difficult for fellow passengers to move through the aisle during the flight because of your spreading to make yourself comfortable. Because not everybody will use it just to ingress, egress or post-landing. Many will just use this trick to spread and spill themselves into the aisle during the flight.

  2. See those 4 buttons (look like screws) surrounding the ball. DO NOT PUSH all of them at the same time. That will release blinding fog throughout the cabin. It is a security measure.

DO NOT PUSH these 4 buttons at the same time. You have been warned.

  3. This trick is particularly useful when the person in of you had reclined fully and you need to slip out of your seat to get something from the overhead bin or use the bathroom. Having the armrest in the upright position gives you more room to manuever.
