A few weeks back I wrote a post asking: Have you taken an amenity kit when flying in coach?
The question brought a mixed response. I mentioned how I do take kits at times when exiting the plane… Some said that taking a kit was wrong, much like stealing while others saw it as no big deal and something they would or have done.
Since there seemed to be a bit of a debate about taking the kits, I decided to run a poll to find out how more of you felt about this topic.
While the poll was active I decided to ask a couple of flight attendants that I know about this topic. One of them flies for American Airlines, the other for Delta. After asking them a few questions & scenarios, I found out that FA’s say it isn’t wrong to take amenity kits.
My poll just ended so it’s time to take a quick look at the results.
In the poll I gave you five answer options. I wish there was a write-in feature so those of you that have other answers could have shared those with us too…
In total there was 187 votes.
From the total, 123 people felt that it wasn’t wrong to take a kit which was 66% of the vote. 78 of these voters said they’ve taken a kit of would do so if the opportunity came up in the future.
45 people voted that it was wrong to take a kit which accounted for 24% of the vote. 10 people don’t really care about amenity kits which makes up 5%. The last 9 votes weren’t really sure if taking a kit was right or wrong, the final 5%.
Based on these results, the majority of you agree with my thoughts on this topic… I’m glad to see that many of you feel the same way as I do although if you don’t that’s certainly OK too!
I want to thank everyone for participating in this poll.
Make sure to keep checking back, I might be running an amenity kit giveaway in the near future!

Susanna- Great point and yes I’d agree there… I thought I had mentioned a few times that this scenario and poll was about taking kits when leaving the plane, maybe I wasn’t clear about it.
I think it is important to clarify that you are referring to taking amenity kits at the end of the flight while leaving the plane. I was on an Alitalia flight seated next to a mother with her two children. She had taken an amenity kit while boarding and passing though Business Class on her way to her seat in Coach. She divided up the contents of the kit with her children before the plane had even taken off. I could not help thinking about the passenger in Business class who was wondering what happened to their kit. Apparently this mother did not consider this stealing.
