The 26th season of The Amazing Race debuts tonight, February 25 at 9:30pm ET. It will then moves to its regular night, Friday’s at 8:00pm ET starting on February 27.
This season will have a very new and interesting twist. The show will feature 11 couples, six who are actually dating and the other five which are going on “the most extreme blind date ever”. They’ll race through five continents and eight countries during this season.
I’ve been a fan of The Amazing Race since its first season and can’t see competing in the show as a great way to try to start a relationship/ go on an extended blind date! However, it pretty much guarantees to make for great television watching.
To add to the couples theme, there will now be a Date Night ticket.
” On each leg, one lucky team will pull a clue that includes” it. “The couple will be able to take advantage of a one-on-one romantic activity, such as a steamy evening at a hot springs in Nagano, Japan, or star-gazing at the Bavarian Public Observatory in Munich, Germany”. Definitely an interesting twist!
A few interesting teams:
- Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block will race with his partner Harley.
- A pair of Olympic medalists will race together
- And the couple I’ll be rooting for, a Southwest Airlines pilot and his girlfriend who is a flight attendant with the airline.
