G Adventures is an adventure travel company offering affordable trips around the world to hundreds of destinations.
Besides offering tours to destinations around the world on their website, G Adventures also has some great travel articles on their site as well as on their blog called the looptail.
We’re not even a full month into 2015 and we’ve already booked most of the flights for this year’s travels.
One flight was booked due to a great deal thanks to a mistake airfare. Another destination booked is one that I’ve long wanted to visit.
A great way to get inspiration and ideas where to go is by checking out the lists put out by many different travel magazines, sites and newspapers.
I’ve written about a few of these lists like:
- Top Events In Each State for 2015
- Fodor’s Places To Go List 2015
- 2015 Best Places To Visit In the U.S.
- Best Place To Travel In 2015
- Where Should You Go In 2015? Take the Quiz
- Lonely Planet’s Top 10 Countries 2015
- NY Times 52 Places To Go In 2015
So why the mention of G Adventures and their blog the looptail?
Well G Adventures put out a short list of their own which I felt was worth sharing. The list/ article was published on the looptail and is called “Where to Next? Top Five Destinations for 2015″.
I feel that G Adventures chose a good mix of places.
Here is G Adventure’s Top 5 for 2015:
- Colombia
- Haiti
- Indonesia
- Egypt
- Iceland
Kim and I have been to 3/5 of the places which were selected and the other two have been places that we’ve considered visiting from time to time in the past.
We really enjoyed Colombia, visiting Cartagena, Bogota and the Amazon. What surprised me most was how much we liked Bogota! I’d love to head back to Colombia one of these days to see more of this interesting country.
So when I say we’ve been to Indonesia, I’ll clarify and let you know that we’ve only been to Bali. Either way, we loved Bali (along with Singapore and Malaysia) which was our most ambitious trip with Lucas before he turned one. Bali has some great cultural sites, tasty food and some of the friendliest people. I’d love to return to Indonesia to visit Java and Komodo some day.
Egypt is an interesting place. Our trip there did seem like real adventure where we visited lots of amazing sites and had many unforgettable experiences. However, we didn’t leave from the trip loving the country. I don’t know if it was the constant harassing sales pitches or outstretched hands always looking for a tip, maybe we need to visit again to really judge.
Otherwise, Iceland has been a place I’ve wanted to visit for a long time. We’ve almost visited there one a couple of occasions but then more enticing options came up. Haiti has never been seriously considered for a trip but it has been mentioned a bunch of times. It’s not a good option right now for us, but hopefully it will be at some point!
