Southwest Airlines has local spaces in four cities which are meant to be an “inviting gathering place in the community” according to Nuts About Southwest.
These spaces are known as the Southwest Porch with two of the locations also having ice rinks.
While I’ve never visited a Southwest Porch, I’d like to stop by one of them in the future.
Southwest Porches are located in:
- Atlanta, GA– Southwest Porch & Rink at Park Tavern (500 10th Street N)
- Dallas, TX– Southwest Porch at Klyde Warren Park (Olive Street above the northbound side of Woodall Rodgers Freeway.)
- Denver, CO– Southwest Rink at Skyline Park (near intersection of 16th St & Arapahoe)
- New York, NY– Southwest Porch at Bryant Park (40th & 42nd Streets & 5th & 6th Aves.)
These porches are open at different times of year with the Atlanta location being year round and its rink being open from Thanksgiving until President’s Day. The Dallas location appears to be open year-round with long hours- daily from 6am to 11pm. Denver’s rink is seasonal, being open from the end of November through mid- February.
The Southwest Porch in NYC’s Bryant Park closes for the winter and just reopened a few days back and has an updated look. According to Nuts About Southwest, “we renovated the space, and introduced our bold, new look to the design of the Porch’s menus and umbrellas“.
The NYC Porch is open daily from 11:00 AM until the park closes.
