When it comes to private islands, I’d think Necker Island, owned by Sir Richard Branson is probably one of the most well know. (Read about my unlikely encounter with Branson <not on Necker Island> here.)
Back in April I wrote about actor Leonardo DiCaprio turning a private island he owns in Belize into an eco-resort which sounded pretty cool (and expensive!).
Now another actor is making news for purchasing a private island.
According to Lonely Planet, Johnny Depp has bought a Greek Island in the Aegean Sea for €4.2 million, around $4.55 million USD.
The island is just 0.2 km and is uninhabited. Lonely Planet reports that “The island is said to be located in the Dodecanese, near Kastellorizo“.
This won’t be the first island that the Pirates of the Caribbean actor has bought. In 2004, Depp purchased Little Halls Pond Cay in the Bahamas for around $3.6 million.
