Airbnb has opened up a ton of possibilities to us when it comes to places to stay while traveling. Sometimes traditional hotels can be way too pricey, not that exciting or budget options just seem plain bad.

With Airbnb, we’ve found some great places to stay at a very fair price. Check out my post about Our Awesome Experience during our first stay using Airbnb in Singapore.

Now, what if you’re not an Airbnb kind of person? Maybe you think that you’re a high-roller, celebrity or just way too cool for the rest of us?

Maybe you should start to think even more outside the box? Maybe you’d like to spend your time away from home renting out a celebrity’s digs?

If this sounds like something that you’d be interested in, Travel + Leisure put together a really cool slideshow featuring Celebrity Homes You Can Rent.

Here are the homes that T+L mentioned:

  • Denzel Washington/ Jimmy Page- Malibu, CA
  • Jim Morrison- West Hollywood, CA
  • Bode Miller- Carroll, NH
  • Paula Deen- Tybee Island, GA
  • Bing Crosby- Palm Springs, CA
  • Willem Dafoe- Hudson Valley, NY
  • Anne Rice- Belle Mer, FL
  • Orson Welles- Hollywood, CA
  • Dan Larson- Paso Robles, CA
  • Harry Houdini- Los Angeles, CA
  • Armistead Maupin- Santa Fe, NM
  • Vivian Vance- Los Angeles, CA
  • Joseph Cotten- Palm Springs, CA

If these sounds more like the kind of places you’d like to stay, then maybe Airbnb is for you. Quite a few homes from this list are actually available through the site. Otherwise, the celeb homes for rent are available through HomeAway.com and Elite Luxury Homes.

I don’t know about you, but I think it would be pretty cool to say that you stayed at the home that Jim Morrison once lived in. It would also be pretty cool to say that I’ve written some blog posts in the home of famous author Anne Rice!
