28 Brilliant Travel Hacks

a suitcase with shoes inside
Genius idea!

I love coming across new ways to make things in life easier. This holds true especially for travel-related situations.

Like a wise man (Benjamin Franklin) once said, “time is money”. I definitely keep this adage in mind at work and when travelling. Another thing I value is space. I think I’ve finally mastered the art of bringing just enough of what I need and not too much extra (while this is true for me, we still always bring extra stuff for Lucas). Keeping those two things in mind, I am always looking for things that will save me time and space when travelling.

In the post 28 Brilliant Travel Hacks You Need To Know For Summer Travel, I came across some new ways (and some that I’ve seen before)to help simplify things related to travel.

Here are some of my favorites that I plan to use in preparation for and during our trips:

a group of empty water bottles

We always bring a refillable bottle (like a Sigg Water Bottle). We fill it up and drink it on the way and prior to going through security. Once we pass through security we fill it up at a water fountain or ask a restaurant or bar to fill it up for us.

a suitcase with folded clothes

Rolling our clothes has been primarily the way we pack since we started traveling with backpacks, which has  been for quite some time ago at this point. Another thing you can use, mainly for smaller items is the Hoboroll. Check out my review of the product here.

This dryer sheet trick would’ve been a great idea for our trip to the Dominican Republic. Due to the humidity, our things felt damp and had a nasty mildew smell. Next time we are heading somewhere hot I plan to try this out.

We don’t usually forget where we’ve parked but this is a fool-proof idea which I still plan to use regardless.

a phone on a seatDuring our flight home with Southwest I could’ve used this plastic bag trick. Southwest offers free DISH TV which I watched on my iPhone. The problem was that I was pretty tired and had to be careful to not drop it! This would’ve been really helpful and I plan to try it in the future.
