I’ve written about small airplanes making emergency landings a few times in 2014. During these landings, luckily nobody was seriously injured and they made for great stories.

Last year, we had a not so typical Thanksgiving. Kim and I started out early by running in a 5 mile “Turkey Trot” in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park. For dinner rather than stick to traditional holiday food we had Turkish food for turkey day!
This year we’ll be taking a little trip for Thanksgiving. We’re not heading anywhere glamorous or too exciting but we’ll be squeezing in an extra trip this year regardless.

I first read about kayaking with manatees on Crystal River in Nat Geo Adventures Magazine. I looked into doing it and found out that Crystal River was the only place in the world where it was legal to swim with manatees. We decided to go swimming & snorkeling the first day and the following day we did the kayak trip. We were lucky to find this friendly & curious manatee that kept coming over to us to play!
