Lonely Planet To Collaborate With Apple Maps To Add Interesting Feature!

Apple MapsI couldn’t imagine driving without navigation apps on my iPhone. We also use them quite a bit while exploring destinations at home and abroad.

There are some decisions to be made when deciding on which map to use. The primary options are Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps.

For everyday driving, I always use Waze since it alerts us of traffic cameras and police. If we’re walking or looking to map the distance between places, I go with Google Maps.

Apple maps is what I’d consider the forgotten and basically never used option of the three. However, thanks to an upcoming new partnership with Lonely Planet, it might be of more use soon.

Back in 2016, Apple Maps added a cool new feature. Besides checking it out a few times, I’ve never really went back to using the app.

Lonely Planet recently announced on Instagram that they would be collaborating with Apple Maps to “offer a series of curated places to help you discover your neighborhood and beyond.”

The first city on the list will be San Francisco and then others will follow.

I wondered why San Francisco would be first on the list. After a quick search, I saw that Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California is around 45 minutes away. Maybe this played a role in the decision…

This new collaboration will debut in the fall on the redesigned Apple Maps app.

Final Thoughts:

Like I mentioned above, I never use Apple Maps. I could see giving the app a try if they add cities that we plan to visit. If New York City is added, I’ll definitely give the app a try to get an idea of what this collaboration is all about!
