It’s always fun to read the various lists which come out sharing the places to go for the upcoming year.
In early December I shared Frommer’s picks for where to go in 2019 in one of my weekly recap posts. I haven’t come across many other lists and am looking forward to checking out this year’s New York Times 52 places to go list.
Airbnb recently shared their picks of 19 places to go in 2019.
Airbnb mentions that they see growing interest in more off the beaten path destinations and cities “based on a combination of Airbnb search, booking and wish list growth data“.
I was curious to see which destinations made the list and was also wondering if I’ve been to any of them.
Here’s Airbnb’s pics for places to go in 2019:
- Kaikoura, New Zealand
- Xiamen, China
- Puebla, Mexico
- Normandy, France
- Great Smoky Mountains, US
- Buenos Aires Province, Argentina
- Accra, Ghana
- Mozambique
- Outer Hebrides, Scotland
- Wakayama Prefecture, Japan
- Catskill Mountains and Hudson Valley, US
- Santa Catarina State, Brazil
- Batumi, Georgia
- Winnipeg, Canada
- Pondicherry, India
- Uzbekistan
- Calabria, Italy
- Andalusia, Spain
- Taiwan
I didn’t do very well with this list having only visited one of the mentioned destinations. (I have been to 13 of the countries listed though!)
Have you been to any of the destinations recommended by Airbnb. If so, what did you think of the places you visited?

Chris- That’s definitely not cool.
Boycott Airbnb, unless you’re good with anti-Semitism.
